it states once this feat is used discard it, do they mean once you use shape change, regardles of if it works or not? or do they mean once you make a shape change roll?

Once you roll the die for Shape-Change, whether you make it or not, its burned and thus discarded.
Its a great little feat for 3 points and actually had it work out perfectly one Parasite. (not a typo)
Visible Dials and Pushing Damage need to be optional. This is the way.
Now here is the million dollar question: If a character already has shape change later on in the dial (a la, skrull yellowjacket, maybe), can you throw on shape change and camoflague?
Now, when the attack is declared, desclare alias while next to a wall. Camo will make the attack impossible. Alias will NOT be used because Shape Change was not used. Shape change cannot be outwitted because it happened in the middle of an attack. Shape change cannot be outwitted afterwards because it was only there for the prupose of the attack. Mwa Ha Ha!

Discuss. And yes, my genius knows no bounds.
It would not work because powers granted by feats cannot be used as prerequsites for other feats. It would be like giving a force field and shell head character who had toughness later in their dial but qualified for forcefield at the top of their dial. The toughness granted by forcefield would not activate shell head if the character had 2 action tokens.

This is somewhat untrue.
If I naturally meet the prerequisite of Brilliant Tactician, I can gain Perplex from ICwO and use BT on clicks where I could not normally use it.
That said, you do not gain the Shape Change power from Alias. (ICwO actually causes you to possess the power.) You get to use Shape Change, but you do not possess it.

Don't mean to dredge up an old thread, but I was actually wondering about this, since now you just need to be able to use a power to be able to use a feat.
Basically I'm wondering, can you use Alias to gain Shape Change, and then use Camoflague with it, as long as you choose not to roll for shape change when your attacked (so that you don't have to remove Alias from the game)?

I'd say that with the current rules you could use Camouflage with Alies, but it would be rather useless. This would allow you to block a line of fire for a ranged combat attack once (as you need to use Alias to get SC) and after that there is nothing stopping the same opponent from immediately drawing a new line of fire to the character.
