I know my first question thread didn't go so well (keyword manipulation attempt...), but here is a thread of question I have not seen answers for (but may exist, I'm lazy...).
1. nbperp's answers thread had a discussion about outwitting symbols (, , , etc.). Not actually the symbols, but the "abilities they grant". So, can you outwit a ? It grants the ability to shoot from range. Can you outwit the ability granted by the ?
2. Perplex + 0? Can you give range to a figure that does not naturally have it? Using a combination of shield TA and/or perplex, you could get a range of 3... Yes or no?
3. Line of fire. What constitutes the range of line of fire. I've been confused ever since I found the LoF resource on SuperGene's site. I used to just count squares, but the LoF chart seems to allow more range than that. Need an example?, mmkay:
So, with only a 2 range, I can go 13 squares? Or am I to count the grey squares up to a total limit of 2 then? And wouldn't this be a range of one? Or do you count the square you are in? Using string and counting seemed so much easier...
4. Blocking terrain, can you "smash through" one block at a time? Per the rulebook: "A close combat attack can be used to destroy a square of blocking terrain adjacent to the character. A ranged combat attack can be used to destroy a square of blocking terrain by drawing a line of fire to the center of a square of blocking terrain; the line of fire is not blocked by the terrain in the target square."
Whew, a mouthful...
So, can i use Benjamin Grimm to "tunnel" through a thick wall (3 squares wide) on the prison map? (or any other map...)? Multiple turns, of course.
I'm sure thats enough for now. I'm sure most of this has been answered here before. I apologize for being redundant.
Quebbster - "'Generic' has no official definition. Ask your judge."
1. The ranged symbol doesn't give you a special power like indomitable, so no
2. yes, you can use perplex/shield TA to increase a character's range, so if they have 0 range, it can be 1 range (2 with some of the new characters possibly, like dr strange, or reed richards)
3. It would be two squares counted from the square infront of your clix...
so (x= clix) your range would be ooxoo also in the up and down directions as well...
4. yes, as long as your character can do 3 damage, they can smash through walls (putting a debris token making it now hindering) and it counts as an action.
so Ben can tunnel through in three turns as long as he can do 3 damage
1: No, range isn't defined in a way that subjects it to Outwit.
2: Yes, you can indeed.
3: That grid isn't for a range of two, its for when the LOF crosses two rows. on the same charts a straight shot would be labled 'one'. A range of two would go two squares away from your figure, as the chart uses the same 'how many ____ it crosses' system for collums as well as rows it is three on there (the two range + one for the space your figure is in.)
4: Yes, you can do that, as long as you have LOF/are adjacent, and you can do enough damage. Reminds me of fun times when Deathstroke (and friends) destroyed somewhere between 15 to 20 bits of hindering terrain and walls on the Junkyard to get rid of the hiding places my opponent was using...
[edit: As Wade Wilson just said. Though I'd like to point out it would take Ben four turns to smash his way through. As great as he is, he still needs to rest a turn. Well unless he's Warbound or some such...]
