Number one recommendation to rookies: If you're posting in Rules of Combat, you can safely assume someone's asked before, but that's just fine. So don't bother putting that clause in your post. It's just redundant.
Capture works as follows: You declare a power action (I believe?) to attempt to capture. You can only capture an adjacent opposing character. You roll like you're attacking, and if you hit, don't do any damage to them. Instead, you pull them off the map. They stay off the map until one of 3 outcomes:
-An opponent attacks you, declaring their intent to 'rescue', and successfully hit you (there might be a defense modifier here, unsure...)
-You lose Capture ability via damage dealt or outwit
-You take a power action while in your starting area to release the captive (who is now out of the game, somewhat like a KO)
Plasticity and Phasing add 2 to a guy's defense when someone tries to capture them, I believe. All of this is found in the Fan. 4 rulebook.
This may have been asked before, i am not sure, but can someone just explain capture for me?
It is pretty thoroughly explained in the rulebook.
This is the one definition of capture, overriding all older ones. Previously released figures with the ability had it listed in their rules. Some of them are described differently than the current way. The current way is applied to all figures with the ability.
Basically, you make a close combat attack to 'capture' a target character. If they have Phasing/plasticity, they add +2 to their defense. If you successfully hit the target, they are placed off the map, and your character is assumed to be 'holding them captive'.
Said character may then move to their starting area, and be given a power action to release the captive, and by doing such gain 1.5x (?) victory points for that character.
While a captive is being held by another character, any other character may declare they are trying to rescue, and be given a power action. If successful, the captive character is placed in an adjacent square to the target, and given an action token.
Its an extremely useful ability against teams that involve one main tank character.

Of course, it must be noted that capturing the last (only) charater, or eliminating all other characters while holding a captive, will end the game. No points are scored for that figure.
Are double points still scored for releasing a captured figure in your start zone?

Thanks. I can't access the rules from where I sit.
as an aside, I really, really, really want to capture Bouncing Boy (or speedball) and yell
TOUCHDOWN!
When I succeed at the capture/release.
