This happened a few weeks ago, I just kept forgetting to post to ask.
I have Nick fury with coordination and Brilliant Tactician. The rest of the team is a whole bunch of Shield Snipers and agents and such. I am facing a Spectre from crisis.
I want to perplex down Spectre's defense and then perplex up all my snipers attack. The judge ruled that if I used perplex on spectre that would be it, as Nick shares no keywords with Spectre.
The card says "When the character uses Perplex, the character can affect every target friendly character that shares a team symbol or keyword with it. The character must have a clear line of fire to each target."
My argument is that I am using perplex to push spectres defense down one, now I should be able to effect all my shield buddies. The judge says its perplex spectre or perplex shield buddies not both.
Who was right?

I cannot imagine a better legacy for my cousin.
Q: Can a character with Brilliant Tactician use Perplex on a target opposing character to modify a combat value and
then affect friendly characters that share a team ability with the character that is assigned Brilliant Tactician?
A: Yes. Brilliant Tactician allows a character to use Perplex in the standard way and, at the same time, affect a
combat value of friendly characters with the same team ability as the character assigned Brilliant Tactician.

So from this you are right. They are wrong.
Thanks, Thought so.

Just to add, though, if he was playing a JSA figure next to him, the Perplex of Spectre is useless.
You make him go from 19 to 16. He shares his unmodified 19 to Wildcat. Wildcat shares that right back, replacing the 16 with 19 again.
Sorry but I was under the belif that because specter doesn't possess the jsa team ability he can only borrow not lend a value.
Please let me know if that is wrong.

No, you are wrong. What you are thinking of is the ability to share the JSA team ability to wildcards. Wildcards can not copy it as he does not possess the team ability, he just has the ability to use it.

He's not a wildcard...
he should be able to use the TA either way

Yep, that is wrong
Spectre was changed to this in the player's handbook (page 30)
Clarifications:
• Ghostly Guardian reads “… and possesses the Justice Society team ability.”

I don't think thats right. I agree that I can perplex spectre to a 16 and he can still lend the 19, but look at the JSA TA
"A member of this team may use the unmodified defense value of any other adjacent friendly member of this team instead of its own. "
Share the unmodified defense value. Wildcats unmodified defense is a 16 or 15, he can only give that, he can't give the replacement value back to spectre.

He can lend as well as borrow

There is a diffrence btw modify and replace. When Wildcat borrows the 19, his DV to share becomes a 19...this is a replacement value, not modified.
Defender and JSA "chains" like that...

An the fact that it works this way and with special powers is why the feat is now banned at all of our future Venue supported events. It is a bs ruling that you can perplex down an opposing characters defense and then use BT to boost all your teams stats. NOWHERE ON THE CARD DOES IT SAY THIS BTW.
It should be one or the other and it should only be able to be used on one stat at a time.
The WildC.A.T.s Major KO's
1.Common Batman from Batman
you are upset because a 20 pt feat is too powerful....
ok he has to have line of fire to each of them which means he has to burn points on coordinate
6 to be precise
then
20 on BT
so a 100 point fury becomes a 126 point fury,
plus whats a shield characters defense?
not a lot.
how many clix of life do they have (depending on soldiers or actual characters) not much.
yes BT is strong but its not set for everyteam.
as a matter of fact i couldn't imagine a team it would be better suited for that a bunch of shield soldiers, with fury talking on the headset to each of them.
banning it at your events....pretty lame
i haven't gotten the chance to use it yet, but i have had it used against me, and i beat it.
crisis
green lantern
green arrow
OoS Batman
and someone else (don't remember who)
JL
Aquaman (starro slave, judge excl)
it is not a game ending feat.
its really no different that the time i had to fight
an apocalypse with (mind you this was a while ago)
repulsor shield, outsmart, and stunning blow.
A good defense will only last for so long, before you must crush your enemies outright!
