With a low defense, low attack value, and low damage value is it possible to make him competitive in a 300 point format?

August General in Iron
August General serves as an Enhancement taxi for the Egg. Sadly the General is better served charging into the thick of it, as is Ghost Fox, leaving no optimal candidates to Mastermind.
Scientists seem a better route to go.
I'm toying with the idea of using Will Magnus & Platina from Crisis, as Mastermind fodder & support, but can't figure out how to improve mobility. (Ideally, I'd love to create a 52 Oolong Island science squad and use Professor Ivo, Dr. SIvanna and T.O. Morrow, but I need some Mastermind fodder!).
What would you do to make the Egg a real threat?

I really feel that it is an artificial limit. It's obvious to me that many new dials are designed to be effective (or appropriately priced) only in high-point value games, on big teams.
Egg is one such piece. I love the Oolong Island team - and on 500 points there's room for plenty of scientists, Auto-Regen, armed security guards and henchmen. On 1000 points, there's room for robot warriors and Battle Beetles! (Maybe the Battle Beetles have Devil Dino dials?)

Ivo is pretty awesome MM fodder. How about in unrestricted? Any good subs for the 4 horsemen? Egg + MODOK!! You know you want it. In general I wouldn't be so hung up on mastermind. Yeah it is good, and a waste not to use but for instance with great ten theme Accomplished Perfect Physician should have no trouble healing him. Or in your example team, just have him hang out in stealth and use your other 2 to soften up the opponents significantly. He could be a beast if you can leave him where he belongs, which is in the shadows. That is how he played it in 52, that is how he should play in heroclix.
Feats:
Brilliant tactician- Especially in bigger games
Contingency plan- one of the best candidates
Auto Regen is a must in unrestricted
Egg is my #1 want for this set. I'm hoping to pull or trade for him today. Oolong Island has to be the best part of 52. So good.

egg-fu, penguin(has defend with a 17 defense) Anarky (outwit/pc and later gets his phasing/teleport and carry ability), Floronic man (really good tie up piece, can also increase his damage with Anarky's smoke cloud/move ability)
6 points left so i'd put Lunge on Anarky... making you 1 point short =/
Basically use penguin/egg-fu together, keep them based for the defend bonus as long as you can...egg-fu is big threat with his powers to begin with, energy explosion, psychic blast, blade claws, plasticity/regen, Stealth is his main defensive power as well, also has his outwit and perplex... Anarky can put him in stealth if there is not much for hindering with his smoke cloud...
This is probably the best bet in this set... I've got a few ideas that might be worthwhile...

Best suggestion I've got is use him with a Scientist Team that has E Ant-Man.
Then he's got 17 defense, 18 from range, which can be perplex by Mr. Pym himself (or hymself, hahaha).

To me the key to making Egg Fu powerful isn't by using him offensively, it's his effect on the opponents that really causes him to shine. His -2 perplex power is crazy effective for it. Oh you have an 18 defense? Say hi to a 16, You do 4 damage? Not anymore say hi to your new 2 damage. 8 Range? Nah it's 6 now. Pair him up with some attackers and cheap taxi (MACH-1 is good for both actually 58 pts, Scientist keyword, Avengers TA so it won't go against your actions, Running Shot, Super Strength with some Toughness) and let him go to town. This is easier to do in 400+, but 300 is still doable.
