Okay, I know these are low level questions, and I thought I knew the answers, but I'm not so sure now (not quite sure why). I didn't have much luck finding similar question with search. Also what happened to that nice detail explaination for this kind of stuff that had lots of diagrams, would really have helped me out.
Okay you got a doorway with an object sitting on the other side and an opposing fig at a diagional to mine:
O = object
F = Friendly fig (foot movment and no powers)
E = Enemy
X = move spot
.X|. .
.O F .
. .|. .
E.|. .
My questions are:
1. When shooting the opponent "E" do they get hindering bonus ? (I say yes)
2. When moving through possition "X" do you have to stop? (I say yes)
Now something a little different:
B = Barriar tokens
F = Friendly fig (flyer movment and hypersonic)
E = Enemy
X = move spot
. B|. .
. B F .
. E|. .
X .|. .
3. May I punch opponent "E"? (Not sure, I think no, saying its all blocked off)
4. May I move through his square in order to get to possition "X"? (I say no for same reason as above)
5. Unrealated to topic, since JSA/Defenders can chain defense out (didn't realize this untill recently), can Batman/Spidy Enemies do the same, as they are similar.

(Touched up your diagram a bit.)
Yes. You are drawing LoF through the corner diagonal between hindering and blocking. In this case, LoF is hindered.

No. You are drawing moving through the corner diagonal between hindering and blocking. In this case, movement is clear.

No. You are not adjacent as the wal and Barrier for continuous blocking terrain.

No. You cannot move through continuous blocking terrain. (I'm assuming that this is indoors and you are not a flier.)

Helpful forum hint: Use courier font for your demos, it makes things line up better. To use courier, surround your text with {font=courier}text{/font} - just use [ and ] instead of { and }.

1. Yes. From the rulebook (page 11) - note the underlined portion:
Quote
A line of fire is considered to pass through hindering terrain if it passes through the diagonal of two diagonally adjacent squares that contain hindering terrain and any of the following: (a) another piece of hindering terrain, (b) a character, (c) blocking terrain, or (d) a wall. (see Figure 12).
2. No. Nothing in the rulebook indicates that 2 different types of terrain (like walls and hindering) that connect on the diagonal are anything other than clear. There are rules that say 2 diagonal squares of blocking terrain are continuous blocking. There are rules that say 2 diagonal squares of hindering terrain are continuous hindering. But 2 different types say nothing. Therefore they are considered clear.

3. No.
4. No.
The answer to both of these is again from page 11:
Quote
Diagonally adjacent squares of blocking terrain are considered continuous blocking terrain, blocking movement and any line of fire through the diagonal between them (Figure 13).

5. Unrealated to topic, since JSA/Defenders can chain defense out (didn't realize this untill recently), can Batman/Spidy Enemies do the same, as they are similar.
Yes - the chaining is fine. Note that the most recent PAC has modified the chaining capability a little in that wildcards can receive combat values through this team ability but they cannot pass them on. So a wildcard would break the chain (unless it was a wildcard with Defend - they would be able to receive the combat value through the team ability and then pass it over with the Defend power - obviously this does not work for Batman Enemy/Sinister Syn as that is the attack value).
Haha, you guys rock, thanks for the assist. There was plenty of this stuff for blocking terrain, between figs, and around corners, but not much on doorways, which just seem a bit of an oddity compared to the simplicity of their examples.
Totally agree with you all here but I got a curious question, which I have asked before but never really got a direct response (perhaps I did but didn't see it and for that, sorry, but...): why doesn't the rulebook specifically say continuous blocking terrain prevents adjacency?
It says walls prevent adjacency and continuous blocking terrain blocks movement and line of fire through the diagonal but it doesn't say it blocks adjacency. It is reasonable to infer it blocks adjacency but there have been a lot of reasonable inferences that the rules haven't backed up before.

Edit: Oops, I should read what I'm posting. I guess that the assumption is that calling it "continuous" is enough.
Here are a few rulings I have found in the FF rulebook that have to do with close combat adjacency, blocking terrain, and walls.
Close Combat
Close combat represents hand-to-hand and melee weapon attacks. Your character must be adjacent to a target to make a close combat attack.

Blocking Terrain
Blocking terrain represents areas and objects on the map with the potential to completely impede a character’s actions. Characters can’t move into or through blocking terrain. No character can occupy a square of blocking terrain. Blocking terrain blocks any line of fire that crosses the boundary line surrounding it. Diagonally adjacent squares of blocking terrain are considered continuous blocking terrain, blocking movement and any line of fire through the diagonal between them (Figure 13). A line of fire that passes through the diagonal between a square of blocking terrain and a square containing a character is blocked.
Note how it says it only blocks LOF and movement through the diagonal between two squares blocking terrain. Nothing is said of adjacency.
Walls
Walls are a special type of terrain indicated by heavy black lines that run along the grid lines marked on the map. Walls have no boundary lines, but they do have all the effects of blocking terrain. Characters on opposite sides of walls are not adjacent, can’t target each other with close combat attacks, and do not need to roll to break away from each other. The edges of a map are not walls.
Walls specifically do say they prohibit adjacency, however walls and blocking terrain are different.
Am I missing something? Why doesn't it say two diagonally adjacent squares of blocking terrain prevents adjacency? Just curious.
