I thought Meteorite and Supernova had dropped to Unrestricted as well as a few Box Sets. Is the unit section accurate? The old unit section was divided into 3 categories, but I dont remember the middle section. Were they on deck before WK went under?

The last non-carded sets and everything since were not retired as of the closing of WizKids. So sets older than SuperNova and Origin were retired.
In addiion, the original Sentinel and Galactus, Sinestro Construct, the Danger Room starter, and the old map and adventure sets were all retired. The only unretired Indy stuff were the BPRD and Invincible boxed sets. I believe that's the last official listing, as of November of 08.
Technically, there is no WizKids - hence no such thing as Restricted....

I see retirement as the most likely rule change judges will make since it was mostly to encourage people to buy new sets and was bearable for players because of the interesting way it shifted character selection. With no more sets there's no more shifting selection so its going to get old really fast. I can see why people would react with 'What, you use retirement? Why? Wizkids isn't forcing you!' since it wasn't particularly popular in the first place. But you're right that if people ask a question here what they really want is an answer, they don't want their question questioned.

1) To use the Units section to find this information, above the left-and-right scrollbar at the top with the set icons, you'll see a thin green line above the non-retired sets, and a thin red line above the retired sets. You'll see above those lines the words "Tournament Legal" above the green line and "Unrestricted" above the red line. The depiction in the Units section is accurate as of the last WizKids decree.
2) I think you'll still see the "restricted/unrestricted" used as a method of delineating sets for venues that change their events weekly. So, as Quebbster said, the question still has merit.
