Hey guys, have been out of the game for some time and I see that EE description has been modified. I was never that clear on the old rules anyway, so can someone explain to me exactly how it works.
When we last played, basically, I had black cat as the target, and she was adjacent to 5 other characters. I rolled a 19 and that was good enough to hit every character. So Black cat took 5 damage because she was adjacent to five other characters who take damage because I rolled high enough. The characters adjacent to black cat took damage equal to the number of characters that were adjacent to them and had a low enough DV to be affected.
No, I don't think that's ever how it worked. Characters are dealt damage based on how many times THEY are hit by energy explosion, not by how many OTHER characters are hit by it. In the example above, if your character only had 1 lightning bolt, it would do 1 damage to each of the characters with a defense of 19 or less. Now, if you have multiple lightning bolts, you can make more than one attack, and characters can be hit by an attack targeted at them and "splash damage' from an attack on an adjacent character. Then a character could be hit multiple times and be dealt damage equal to the number of times they were hit. Perhaps someone more forum-savvy than I will be able to illustrate the point better.
Do damage reducing powers work against splash damage?
Yes. So does super senses, but not shape change. You can also mastermind splash damage, but remember that all damage happens at the same time, so it's not one damage two times but all the damage at once.

No. Your damage value has nothing to do with EE damage.
