I notice that some people have the ability to post pics in their threads using the [ IMG] tag. How does someone gain this ability?

To the best of my understanding, this is a feature available in some forums but not others. It's very handy in the Artisan's Forum, but could be a pain if overused in an auction or trade thread.

It's not a donor perk, although uploading attachments is (diamond and adamantium), and can be done in any forum.

Mods, please correct me if I'm mistaken.

Zero is right. There are some forums that allow you to insert images. The toolbar has an icon that is of a scene of a mountain or something (see attachment)

If you want to put something in just use the attachment button.

I'm a Diamond donor and never see that icon when I am in any thread. Am I not getting everything I signed up for?

Yea, I have never seen it either...even looked the other day when we were posting our pets

I just noticed that I can do it(the attachment button) in some threads but not others...and in these threads that I can't others have posted pictures, unless threads have a limit to how many people can do it :-/

Let me amend that. Apparently I have that icon in the Creative Corner, but not in General and am not sure about everywhere else.

Many can put pics in General, how does that happen?

You should note the difference between using attachments, and using image tags. Attachments are allowed everywhere (or at least, everywhere I post), image tags are seldom allowed.

For example, you cannot use image tags in Another Realm, but you can use them in Mafia Discussion. However, you can use attachments in both.

Attachments are more limited than image tags for several reasons, and they won't display animated gifs unless people click on them. When I had my MSPA thread going, it was largely abandoned thanks to this frustration.

Image tags, on the other hand, always work.

yes, I know that much...was stating that there are threads where I -can not- use the attachment feature while others are able too...(it doesn't give me the option to use it when I go to post) but in other threads it does allow me to...

As far as I know, there are only two subforums where I get the "You may not post attachments" flag - Player Groups and the Politics forum. Attachments are a perk for Diamond Donors and up - looks like you're one donor level short.

If I only use the quick reply at the bottom, I have no option to use an attachement. However, since I quoted for my reply, I have that icon plus a bunch others at my disposal.

Why shouldn't we get the same options all the time?

Because Quick Reply is for quick replies. The more tools you add for basic viewing pages, the more has to load every time you view a thread. It's pretty sensible that the Quick Reply would be missing several options.

as I had said, in the thread other members had posted attachments, but I wasn't given the button option to do so, it was the legion of hcrealms pets thread in another realm...

Like I said, you're one donor level short. Everyone posting attachments in that thread was at least Diamond level.
