Moondragon and Beast are on my team. They are assigned Warbound, and in adjacent squares on the map.
Moondragon uses MC on enemy fig and misses the attack roll.
Beast uses Theme Team Prob so Moodragon can re-roll her attack.
Moondragon re-rolls her attack...
Action tokens are placed after the action resolves. So in what order are the MC action token and the Theme Team Prob action token placed. I can't find this clearly pointed out in the Rulebook. I believe that if they are placed simultaneously, the controlling player decides the order. In which case I place the Theme Team Prob token on Beast first, and then use Warbound to place the MC token on Beast. Is this correct?
Additional Theme Team Prob question:
Do Theme Team Prob action tokens count towards your total team actions for the turn? I ask because Probability is a free action which would obviously not count towards your turn total, but they do require an action token be given which does in all instances I can think of, count towards your turn total (excluding receiving an Incapacitate action token, which is a result of your opponents action). Thanks.

Reason: add 2nd related question.

which beast are you using? I ask because for warbound to work the piece taking the token has to be at least half of the point value. which set is the beast your using from? so if your talking about Mutation and monster 73 point beast then its cool.
you would place the theme team PC action token first, because PC resolves before moondragon's MC. So I can't see why you wouldn't be able to give the MC token to beast.
as for theme team PC taking from your total actions, I would say, it wouldn't. Otherwise you wouldn't be able to give an action to the same piece that used a theme team PC.

Some tokens, like the PC token and CSA, are applied immediately.
Regular ones are placed at the end of the action.

Action tokens. When you give a character any action other than a free action, give the character an action token after the action is resolved;
Quote
WARBOUND
Cost: 5 per character on your force with the chosen keyword
Prerequisite: A single, common keyword.
Choose a character. Choose a keyword. All characters on your force that have the keyword are assigned this feat. When a target friendly character assigned this feat is given an action, instead of giving it an action token, you can give the action token for the action to an adjacent friendly character that has the chosen keyword, has zero action tokens, and has a point value equal to at least half of the target’s point value.
I could see this being ruled either way, but I would rule it as legal.
It would be like this.
1) Declare the MC.
- At this point, Beast has no tokens. This is checked "When a target friendly character assigned this feat is given an action..." Since Beast has no tokens at this point, the wheels of Warbound are set into motion. If it changes between now and when the token is assigned, so be it.
2) Roll the attack....miss
3) Use the theme PC, placing the token on Beast immediately.
4) Roll the attack...hit or miss
5) If you hit, resolve the free MC action
6) Resolve the MC power action
7) Place the action token onto Beast
I can see an argument for saying that you check for no tokens when the tokens are placed, but everything else, like the adjacency, is checked at the beginning. I don't see why the token check would not also occur at that point.

Using M&M Beast 73 points, and HOT Moondragon 134 points. Both have animal keyword.

I agree with this, but would say that, if it was a miss, Beast would not be able to be given a second Theme Team Prob. His allotment of action tokens is "committed" already (even if not placed) and no mechanics are intended to allow a character to have (or qualify to have) more than two tokens.

Here was the actual scenario. Slightly different than I first remembered.
The adjacent opponents fig has poison so I decide to attempt to MC it, and move it away from my figs which both have Super-Senses.
Say the mind control roll hits, and the free MC action is used for a move action. I now have to break away form my opponents other fig. Break away roll misses and that is where I want to use my Theme Team Prob. Would your ruling be the same in that slightly different scenario.

I don't get it? Since the PC theme re-roll token is applied immediately, Beast now has a token. As per the wording of Warbound, the character receiving the token cannot have an action token placed upon them. Period. It says nothing about how or when that token is placed, only that it cannot be there. How does this 'circumvent' that? Since Beast is receiving the token from Moondragon at the end of her action after he`s received the token from the theme PC.
Warbound
Prerequisites: A single, common keyword.
Choose a keyword. All characters on your force that have the keyword are assigned this feat.
When a target friendly character assigned this feat is given an action, instead of giving it an action token, you can give the action token for the action to an adjacent friendly character that has a point value equal to at least half of the target's point value.
*Per character on your force with the chosen keyword.
So I would break it down like this:
1) Declare the MC.
- At this point, Beast has no tokens. This is checked "When a target friendly character assigned this feat is given an action..." But beast is not the "Target friendly character" that is taking the action, Moondragon is.
2) Roll the attack....miss
3) Use the theme PC, placing the token on Beast immediately.
4) Roll the attack...hit or miss
5) If you hit, resolve the free MC action
6) Resolve the MC power action
7) At this point, Beast has an action token already from the theme PC, and therefore does not meet the requirements set out in the Warbound card, and cannot therefore be passed the token from Moondragon.
Again, since the feat doesn`t specify when the "adjacent friendly character" was given an action token, only that it cannot have one, I`d *argue* that if you use the theme PC, you cannot get the token from Warbound.
I`ll equate it to Flurry and Mystics or Critical Miss Damage. If you lose Flurry before making the 2nd attack, you cannot make the 2nd attack. 2 distinct *phases* if you will, of the action. Prerequisites are there at the beginning of said action, but after the first *phase* of the action, the prerequisites are no longer applicable, therefore the 2nd *phase* can no longer be performed. In this case, the passing of the Warbound token.
Just IMO.

If Warbound were meant to work that way, I'd think it would have been worded:
Quote

Could Beast not take the 2nd token and have the action token applied to Moondragon instead of Beast? I guess I am asking if when Warbound is used, does the controlling player need to declare who will assume the action token at the beginning of the action or is Warbound declared at the point when the token is given?
If Warbound were meant to work that way, I'd think it would have been worded:
Changing (adding) that one word makes little difference. Non-free actions and tokens are mutually exclusive in this game as per the mechanics of the game. To add in that word is redundant, as it is implied (give the mechanics of the game) that when you take a non-free action you will assign an action token to a figure.
So the real question is: when does Warbound *take effect*? I would argue that it does not take effect until after the character takes an action, and then *tries* to pass the token off to the adjacent friendly figure:
1) Character A takes a non-free (tokenable) action.
2) Check for adjacency of friendly figure B.
3) Make sure said friendly figure B has 0 action tokens.
4) Assign action token to friendly figure B.
Unless I am reading it wrong, the card also mentions nothing about the 2 figures having to start adjacent to each other, but from Harpuas post, he`s checking for adjacency first. So does that mean that figure A in my above example cannot:
1) Charge into adjacency with a friendly figure?
2) Running Shot into adjacency with a friendly figure?
3) HSS, attack, move further into adjacency with a friendly figure?
4) Move & Attack into adjacency with a friendly figure?
.....and then pass off the Warbound token?
Yes, I understand that with Charge and Running Shot, the attack happens at the end of the movement. Fine. But take a look at Harpuas post above (quoted below ):

Since Warbound is not an effect that takes place, or causes anything to happen, during the action, I would stand by my argument that it does not take effect until after the action is completed. In which case, if the second figure has been assigned or given (or whatever other verb you would like to use), an action token in the meanwhile, that it cannot therefore receive an action token passed off to it from the usage of the Warbound feat. Also, when has anyone ever (never to my knowledge) declared that they are going to use Warbound at the beginning of their action? They don`t. They declare the passing of the action token after they take their action.
So it can only work one way: either the two characters have to start (and end) adjacent for the token to be passed off (the feat does not say this), or Warbound takes effect at the end of the action, and that is when adjacency, and the check for tokens, takes place.

You can do none of those things.

If they are doing that, then it is being played incorrectly. It has been ruled this way since it was released.

* Adjacency is required for the 2 characters when the action is given. If the characters are not adjacent at the end of the action, the token may still be assigned to the qualifying character.
