Hey guys. Despite my usual goofy self, i have a great idea for future sets. So NECA listen up please!
Currently the sets are done as follows:
16 commons
16 uncommons
16 rares
12 Super-rares
2 Chase pieces
A booster is random, but limited as to waht you can get. You can pull 5 commons, but never 2 super-rares (except for mistakes and God packs) brick (10 booster x5 characters=50 figures) usually contain 3-4 SR and chases are very hard to come by (usually 1 in every 5 cases)
The problem: I casn buy a booster and get nothing. If i buy a case (2 bricks) and am lucky i'll pull 7 SR's. Out of 12!! And i probably won't even get a full C-U-R set! A couple of drafts will fill ing the CUR's and i might get another SR and maybe trade for one. The thing is that even if i buy another brick i probably won't have a full set.
I understand that this a business and they want us to keep spending, but who has the money? Look at the target audience. 15-30 year old men. first job or just started a job, or having kids, or buying a house. Hello? The thing is, most people will either just break down and buy the figs they want from a secondary market (which is a lose-lose situation. It costs the players more and the company doesn't profit from that) or just give up. And no one wants to spend like $300 chasing down the last pieces in a set and then not get them anyhow.
Of course anyone can b!tch, but i have a solution:
New set make up for 60 characters:
20 commons
16 uncommons
16 rares
8 Super-Rares
2 chases
Each booster will be set with the following
2 commons
1 uncommon
1 rare
1 wild slot
The wild slot has the following distribution:
40% uncommons (8 out of 1 case)
20% rares (4)
36% SR (7.2)
4% chase (.8)
So a typical case will have
40 commons (20 different ones so at least 1 full set, maybe 2)
28 uncommons (16, again 1 set)
24 rares (16, one set)
7 Super Rares (only 1 more needed, maybe 2 if you have a dup)
Then 4 out of 5 cases have a chase. The ones that don't have an extra SR
The chases are slightly rarer that 1 per case, so they are illusive but not impossible to get. They are still 9 times rarer than a SR, so you can expect to see a full SR set and an extra before seeing1 of the 2 chases.
So 1 case should yeild and full CUR-SR set or be 1 or 2 shy and have a chase. I think that's reasonable for $210.00.
What does everyone else think? I understand some people like the excitement of chasing after a few figures. They could go to 4 chases under this distribution and it would still be better that what they have now.
to sum up: you dislike the current production model that basically requires the purchase of 2 cases...and would prefer to get everything for buying half as much. this sounds like a stellar idea for WK/Neca to adopt...cutting many people's orders/purchases directly in half (ok sarcasm aside, as much as it may be nice to have a set cheaper to collect...WK has always made money by making a full set take about 40 boosters to put together...i highly doubt thats gonna change)

ok you know what i just looked at that all again and its very untrue.
a booster these days will have 2 commons, 1 uncommon, 1 rare and one varied slot. the varied slot has 1/3 chance of a common, or uncommon or super rare.
you will never get 5 commons (unless it is a production error or a repack ripoff).
Distribution seems fine to me the way it is (God packs withstanding). I'd rather WizKids worked on making more figs playable than having junk pieces. I know this business model revolves around some pieces being better than others, but seriously, every fig should be at least cost effective.
My (partial) solution's always been easier for those of us who are mathematically-challenged.
More generics so that the hordes of Commons are at least worthwhile to pull/keep/own (as was the model with Star Wars Minis), especially by using the "Minion" mechanic. HoT was brilliant in that regard; in fact, I even purchased extra Hand Ninjas, Asgardian Warriors, Fire Demons, Rock Trolls, and C Valkyries as singles.
You have used a censored word. Please remove this word. <-- Please kiss that word.
I'm glad that you've decided that your own post is IMPORTANT.
Haha, I was going to say the same thing. I'm tempted to start every post I make that way now.
IMPORTANT: I'm eating a ham sandwich.
On the real, though, I can't ask a company to adopt a business model that will get them less profit; especially a company like Wizkids that I really want to see succeed.
Heck, I'd like to get a Chase from time-to-time... but that's where the word "chase" comes in to begin with. They ain't easy to come by.

I do agree with this, and I also purchased extra ninjas (one can never have too many ninjas).
Oh man, we got a Negative Man and a Jimmy Olsen? Now I need to think of a new signature after all these years!
I had an idea the other day while being bored to tears in work. My idea uses the 55 figure set idea that may or may not be true...
5 Commons: Generics, two in a pack or one if you pull a SR
25 Uncommons: two in a pack
15 Rares: One in a pack
10 Super Rares: Same as it is now
Chase figures: Same...
My idea would make the common slot pure awesomeness... One brick would get you an army of generics. Who wouldn't love that???

"No, you gotta make that piece less playable -- we've already got too many competitive Commons in this set!"
You really think that's how they work?
The business model of Clix revolves around making certain figures more or less rare, but not more or less playable.
While card games do tend to save the high-power cards for higher rarities, HeroClix has never really done that. Commons have yielded powerhouse figures like OotS Batman, Skrull Ms. Marvel and Thor. SRs have yielded midcard or utility pieces like Black Manta, Jarvis or Scarlet Witch.
I don't disagree with you on the need for every figure to be of high quality. But I don't believe WizKids has made a business strategy of deliberately producing pieces you won't play.

Emphasis mine; I agree.

addition to this: also tend to put high desire/popular characters as super rare(although not ALL SRs are high popularity characters). this drives sales but doesn't hurt the overall game
