Sorry if there is already a thread on this that I missed somewhere. But in reading the qualifiers on the Buy It By the Brick form, I noticed it says the following:
Quote
The original sales receipt for the purchase of 10 DC HeroClix: The Brave & the Bold Boosters accompanies this order form (receipts from Internet retailers DO NOT qualify for this promotion).
I don't understand this policy. I'll admit that I bought my case online. In the (very large) city I live in, there is no longer a brick and mortar venue to buy cases of heroclix inside the city limits. Suburban venues are inconvenient to get to, at best. And my case isn't the worst; I'm sure there are folks on the realms that are literally hours away from a heroclix vanue. In the guise of supporting brick and mortar stores, NECA is effectively screwing players out of the figure and forcing them to go to the secondary market. I bought my case. And yet I won't be able to get a single Buy It By the Brick Figure. Not the best customer service policy, IMHO.
If NECA does want to support the brick and mortars (which is a very worthy cause), they could do so in a way that doesn't harm the player. Or at least doesn't exclude players who don't have many choices aside from buying online.
If NECA has concerns with the competitive advantages internet retailers have over the brick and mortars, they could require more barcodes for players who purchase online. That would give an advantage to brick and mortars without excluding several players from taking advantage of the promotion. The current policy of exclusion of players who buy large amounts NECA's products seems arbitary and mean-spirited.
ok the buy it by the brick program is specifically designed to support the venue by getting you buy a brick from them. it is not designed to give you and extra cool figure for free. its your motivation to ensure you get it from a brick and mortar. besides that you can get your cases on line from a store that had a brick and mortar front and still get your brick piece. you only need to ask the retailer if they have a store front or are they online only. So you might go back and look at that with the sell you bought from. Its cut out on people who can order cases at barely above the cost of the online sellers thereby screwing the brick and mortar people because oh i can get it a whole lot cheaper online so why would i buy at my local shop.
Interestingly enough, I've found buying my case online (won't say where) saves me about $30 over going to the store. That includes shipping and paying for the brick figure on ebay.
I even get a member's discount at my local store.
With that price difference I can see why they want do make an incentive for the brick and mortar places but there is still something lacking to really make it worth it for me anymore.

I get what your saying, but this is the first time I bought online due to my store has went up in price the last 3 sets, both boosters, bricks, & cases. I saved $100 by going online. A reciept is a reciept is a reciept. It does not matter if the store is an authorized online store or not. My store doesnt even order more boosters when they run out, they barely support the clix crowd. So add that with high prices = online purchases.
understandable that if you can still get out cheaper online with buying the fig to justify buying from the store other than to just support them but I mean it totally makes since that they don't want to reward people for buying it cheaper than a retailer has to sell it for. I mean the online guy doesn't have the problem of having to pay bills at a store which factors hugely into how much they have to charge for their stuff.

then get it on the secondary market for about 20.00 which is probably what it will cost and your still cheaper by 80.00 than you would have gotten in the store but don't expect wizkids to owe you a brick piece when you didn't buy from your brick and mortar thats all im saying. so if your saving tha tmuch on your cases and bricks then paying for it on the secondary will be fine. Ill be happy to take your 20.00 for my 2nd piece i will get cause I bought a case at my local store.
Well coming from someone who had to start his business online due to the rent prices on shops, I find it very wrong. now I'm not in the collecting market, but I don't see why excluding some online shops just cuz it's affordable for said online retailer to not have a store.
Now I bought my case online, and I am playing at every sealed at my local venue(which will be over 10 boosters) but I can't save all those reciepts and send them in to prove I bought 10 cuz I didn't buy them at the same time? thats spaceballs.
wizkids/neca needs to realize that not everyone is fortunate enough to be able to buy a brick all at once.
And if they want us to support out LCBS(which I do by buying my comics and other collectibles, which is how I found them long b4 HC came around) then lower the prices...
Why pay $110 in store for a brick when you can get a case for $150. In these hard econamic times, neca should be happy thay are selling all they have.
Or better yet, don't sell cases to these online only retailers if they want more Brick and Mortor purchases.
As long as I spent my money on thier product, whether it be at a store, online, at a bar, or over the coarse of a month, whats it matter. you still got my money. hope they go back to just including them with the bricks. Cuz it was nice opening my HoT case and having it right there.
just my 2 cents

HA HA HA HA HA! Thank you NECA. This is great. I know people are going to say, "What if there is no brick and motor store in my area?" You can find internet stores that have a brick and mortar store front. THIS is the reason I hope they don't start packaging brick figures in the cases.

i'll buy your extra one since im an online buyer too (2 hours away from closest B&M)

UM, there was no qualifier saying you had to buy 10 boosters at once in the "old" days. i saved up and bought 10 over a month and sent in for venom and got it no problem. is it stated now that you have to do it all at once now somewhere?
this game dies if brick and mortars don't carry it anymore or let people play there cause they are losing money on the game from ordering product enough to run events and then not selling all of it. if you have a big player base and most people buy from the store then its not that big of a deal but some of us have a small venue and if we started buying our stuff online we would loose our venue cause my friend would pull the game in a heartbeat. he almost did that once with one of our card games cause my wife and i were some of the only people buying from him directly. alot of other people were buying all online so he almost cut it off but then it died due to a company buy out.
You know, some of us buy online not because of cost but because we literally are nowhere near brick-and-mortar stores. I'm not talking "drive out to the suburbs"-distance but hours away.
We aren't going to be starting up a "great venue" living in a very small town.
Just to remind people not everything is about "saving a few bucks".

Also if everyone in America would make an effort into saving up for something then by the time a set comes out you would have the money to buy your brick or case or whatever and you could buy it at one time. There are solutions to the problem if you can show self control but too often because of our plastic crack addiction you can't bring yourself to save money to buy at one time you have to buy more frequently with less quantity to satisfy the addiction. I know I have that problem alot haha

there shouldn't be a price difference. The stores and the online retailers paid the same price for their cases. It's the Stores fault for charging MORE.
Let's see: total for brick after discount at LCBS= 106.?? for 50 figs
thats $10.60 a booster
total for case online w/shipping = 152.50 for 100
that's $7.63 a booster
LCBS that sell HC at a 25% higher rate than online retailers is their fault.
Don't get me wrong, I support my LCBS. At about 40 bucks or more a week, In comics, collectibles, TPB, Shirts, and what not.....
This is one of the factors that's killing LCBS. The price on clix, and By Yoda the price on comics. I mean 3.99 for (insert pourly written and pourly drawn comic here) is outrageous. I can buy a Novel for $7.00 that has 400 more pages and is better written
why punish us(the consumer) when the fault in prices lies with them and the LCBS???
