i have that superman as well as e-2. i would try to fix it. that piece is way to awesome to get rid of. maybe in the the long run you be charging at other pieces faces and ko'ing them one buy one. and not to mention if you enter a tournament you will have a pretty good chance of winning so more booster and prizes to crack open. get some super glue and glue away to your hearts intent!
I assume the damage wasn't mentioned in the trade dealing? That means that either the figure was pre-broken and the seller is trying to pull a fast one on you or it was damaged in shipping. Was it shipped securely, or just thrown in a box?
I've received broken figures in the mail before (fairly valuable ones, but not quite that valuable) and I chalked it up to shipping damage. If you have any reason to suspect that the trader is messing with you I would say that you have the right to ask for a tradeback. If not, I'd suggest you just try to fix it as best as possible and consider it a hazard of online trading.

If no mention of damage was said pre-trade, I'd message/contact the other half of the trade and inform him/her of the damage and see what is said about it. I would not risk, however, sending it back, in case the person is not of good character (doesn't send your MM back). Just inform him/her it was broken, and then base future trades/potential trades/possible trade ratings by how he/she responds to your concern.
sounds like a very minor fix, just remember a "SMALL" amount of glue is more than enough to do the job. don't bother wiping it away you will just give it a glossy finish, just use a very small amount and put it down. In the day I was able to do flight stand replacement and you would never be able to tell it was broken before.
