Question one has to do with 2000AD team and Ultimate X-men teams vs ATAs. Both of these say you choose a target character or team.
Is that supposed to be team symbol or can you choose an ATA?
Question two has to do with League of Assassins and Elevated terrain. If a character is adjacent to Elevated terrain can he count that as being adjacent to a wall for purposes of using that team ability?

Since the ATAs grant possession of the team ability in question, I would think that you can choose an ATA as the target of these TAs. Especially since you do not choose the target until the game has started when the opposing team has the ATA in play already.

Thanks
No, walls are thick black lines on the map. Elevated terrain is marked by red lines. Elevated terrain is not walls.
Real world logic might tell you that for a building to be elevated there has to be walls, but since HC is not a 3D-game, there are no walls for elevated terrain.

Are you sure ?
I ask because there is slight differences between Alpha Flight, UXM and 2000 AD's wording.
For the sake of clarity :
Quote
Alpha Flight : Once during each game, choose any team ability or opposing character. Each friendly character using this team ability modifies its attack value by +1 when attacking the chosen character or a
character possessing the chosen team ability.
Quote
Ultimate X-Men :At any time during the game, a character using the Ultimate X-Men team ability can choose an opposing character or team; this choice can be made only once per game even if the character has used another team ability. When this character attacks the chosen character or an opposing character using the team ability of the chosen team, modify this character’s attack value by +1.
Quote
2000 AD :At any time during the game, you may declare an opposing team or character as your target. Once the character or team is chosen, it may not be changed. All characters using the 2000 AD team ability increase their attack value by 1 when attacking the chosen team or character.
The way I understand it, it means that :
- with Alpha Flight, you get to choose a team ability and gain the bonuses against any charcater that possess it, so alternate team abilities can be targeted just fine (they are TA, they are possessed)
- with UXM and 2000 AD you got to choose a team, not a team ability. I've always though that it meant you got to pick a team symbol, not a team ability, as your target.
2000 AD then grant a bonus against characters possessing the team symbol (the TA says "when attacking the chosen team"), while UXM gain the bonus against opponents using the team's TA, no matter why (a wildcard using the chosen TA would trigger the modifier).
To make things clearer :
- Alpha Flight : choose a team ability, get +1 against characters possessing it
- UXM : choose a team symbol, get +1 against characters using that team symbol's associated TA
- 2000 AD : choose a team symbol, get +1 against characters possessing that symbol
Am I understanding this right ?
It sounds to me like 2000 AD and Ultimate X-Men could both use a clarification in the next Player's Guide as to whether they refer to a team symbol or team ability.

Pleeeeeeeease, they've needed a clarification for years.
Do you know how many people think that just using the word "team" means that you get to pick a person's entire force?
Like, say the game was a battle "Dennis" versus "Wes" versus "Greg" versus "John." Dennis plays a team of the dark judges (2000 AD). He calls out "I get my +1 against Greg's team."

This is wrong.
Hey, better late than never, right?
...Or is that just my philosophy about showing up to tournaments...I forget.

my understanding of this TA is that you get +1 against whichever team you declare as your enemy. by team i refer to the logo on the base or what have you. not my players whole force. If A is playing 2 Bats, 2 Supes, 2 Skrulls and i have 2000AD/Ult X i can choose only one of those teams within his force, not the whole shebang, right?

Did anyone above mention already that 2000AD users all have to pick the same target, where UX users get to each choose individually?
Something I wonder off-hand [as I'm sure no one can answer this] is why this distinction remains. Are the TAs actually costed differently? Was 2000AD never updated because the Indy line was sort of forgotten as soon as it was released?
Who knows, man. Who knows. Although I'm using a BUNCH of 2000AD guys in next weeks game, so I guess I should get brushed up on rulings and stuff.
