Just got the preview and already... Jameson's trait reads:

The question was brought up- what if a Spidey TA fig is already copying the Batman TA?

The school of thought that says that it would not work is pretty obvious. The real question is, given the way the trait is worded, do you need to draw line of fire to the character or just the square it occupies for the trait to work? Typically, when you need to draw LOF to the figure the wording states that specifically (i.e. Characters that JJJ can draw LOF to can't use the Spider-Man team ability.) I can't remember ever seeing the phrase "within LOF" being used previously.

So, what is the intent here... does ol' JJJ need to be able to draw LOF to the figure or just to the square?

If the trait says LOF, then JJJ won't be ablr to cancel the Spidey TA if the character in question is in stealth due to copying the Batman TA.

Yeah, he needs to be able to draw LOF. If JJJ can't, for whatever reason, then the trait will not work.

Does this LOF have any restriction per the rules? Or would he be able to see from one end of the map to the other, barring blocking terrain, characters, etc.? Really just trying to figure out why it wasn't just worded "can't be used" like kid zoom's.

how can JJJ have ANY LOF if he has no range?

Range is not required for LOF. For example, characters using the Hydra team ability need LOF, but there is no limit on how far that LOF can go.

Good point, that means if ol JJJ is 15 squares away, but can still "see" with LoF to Spider-Man, "POOF" no WC.

EDIT* They could be on opposite sides of the map as well

also he can turn off more than one spidey TA as long as he makes a LOF to each

ah ha which means as long as JJJ keeps an eye on Spider-man from the beginning of the game spidey can't copy batman TA lol haha awesome

Basically, draw a line from JJJ to the character with the Spider-Man Ally TA. Does it cross blocking terrain? Then you don't have LoF. Now the Batman TA says they use Stealth and Stealth says

So putting them together, if a character using the Spider-Man TA to copy Batman is in hindering, no JJJ's trait can't effect it because LoF to that character is blocked.

The big thing that seems to be getting people on this is the traits unlimited range. As long as LoF isn't blocked, JJJ can effect that character,even on opposite sided of the map. We really haven't had many draw LoF with no range listed (Only I can recall is the leaked playtest version of Niko from HoT).

So long as Spidey never gets out of his LoF, then yeah. But as soon as he gets behind anything that would block LoF, Spidey could get it back. Potentially you could duck behind Blocking or another character and gain the TA back. I believe.

Correct. As soon as an action was taken and JJJ could no longer draw LOF to the character using the Spider-Man team ability, that character could copy any team ability it wanted.

correct, but also i wanna point out that if Jonah can draw LOF to Spidey on turn one and Spidey moves into hindering he still can't use Batman TA if Jonah could still draw the LOF since he can't change his TA affliation while moving, unless ofcourse Spidey had HSS and the LOF was blocked while he was attacking a character then moved into hindering but correct me if im wrong,


also i just realized you don't want to use Jonah and Spidey on the same Team, since Jonah wouldn't allow Spidey to wildcard

All in all; it's a nasty trait for our Spider Friends. Add J3 and Kid Zoom(?) on the build and it could be ugly.

i still like inertia better the KZ but ya i love the trait
