When you make an attack with EE does your to hit roll need to be higher than all the targets hit by the splash damage. Here is an example
Wasp is between black panther and spiderman. If I target wasp (so that all 3 would be hit), would I make one attack roll and compare the result to wasp and let the other 2 take splash damage, or would the 1 roll be compared to all 3 to determine splash damage. Thanks in advance.
You'd only have to target Wasp to hit. Since she's in the middle of the two, the attack would hit them both, but you only have to have a successful hit on Wasp.
"Energy Explosion works like this: I target an opposing figure A that is adjacent to a couple other figures, B and C. A's defense is 17, B's 16, C's 18.
1. If my roll + my attack value equals 18, a successful ranged combat attack (as A's defense is lower than my 18). I compare this 18 to the defense values of B and C, since it is equal to or higher than both values, I have hit them as well. I give one click of damage to each A, B, and C.
2. If my roll + my attack value equals 17, a successful ranged combat attack (as A's defense is equal to my 17). I compare this 17 to the defense values of B and C, and it is higher than B's but lower than C's. I hit A and B, but not C, for one click of damage each.
3. If my roll + my attack value equals 16, a failed ranged combat attack (as A’s defense is higher than my 16). I miss A, B, and C."
So in the case you are talking about, you would be attacking the highest defense in the group. As long as your attack hits her, you would splash on everyone there. If you miss her, you miss everyone.
In my day, we didn't have Heroclix. If you were being attacked by Superman with a 3d dumpster, you just had to hope you could outrun him.
