You can VERY easily bump that up to 300 points for a "regular" game with another ranged attacker to take advantage of the Researchers... I personally would go with the M&M Iron Man at 100 points. You could also select the human Yellowjacket from SI, Mr. Fantastic or Reed Richards, or Back in Black Spidey (though the Enhancement doesn't really help him, since his special power gives him ranged combat for Incap only).
If you want to cross universes, I think the best choice would be Rip Hunter at 97 points. Rip suddenly hitting for 4 or 5 would be an unwelcome surprise to your opponent.
Researchers are cool, but they aren't that good when your team maxes out at 4 range.
Jackal is probably a bit too expensive to use in 200 points as he's mostly support too.
Cardiac is OK, but not quite good enough to handle most of the offense in this team.
An idea for a 300 point team:
Iron Man 202
Ben Reilly 38
4 Researchers 60
Ben ties them up... Iron Man blasts them to smithereens.
THAT is a heckuva team, dude... I like that alot. I need another Researcher, and then I want to give that a try.
(If you weren't playing all-WOS, I would trying this team with subbing in a Stingray in place of two of the Researchers. Stingray could stay close to Iron Man, using the dual Enhancement when IM was Running or pushed or on his RCE clicks. I've always found Stingray to be one of the most underrated pieces in the game, and whenever I use him, he has an impact on the game way more than 29 points worth.)

Stingray is a good idea. Between the Shield TA and the Enhancement, he could fire 8 squares for 4 damage...
And then when your opponent wants to shoot him while he's in hindering, the look on his face when you say "Stingray has a 19 Defense" is priceless. No one wants to waste any effort to shoot a 29 point figure, but then when they realize he's actually HARD to hit.
Plus, with Stingray's L/C and 9 move, he can always get to wherever you need him on the battlefield.
Ooh, and when playing with feats, he's a perfect candidate for Not So Special! For just 3 points, with all the recent special powers, he'll be shooting with a 10 attack all the time!
I think you would be better off without Cardiac - Doc Manhattan can handle ranged combat just fine, but you need a close combatant. You could always go with SI Spider-Man, that leaves room for two more Researchers too.
well, I just like cardiac, I don't know what it is about him, I'll test the army out and post back how it plays
Looking forward to hearing it.
Cardiac's not bad... I just don't think he has what it takes to front a team. The Cardiac/Jackal combo does have appeal, but it probably needs a bigger point total to work out.
