Give Red Hulk a power action and make a close combat attack targeting each character within 3 squares. Each character hit is dealt damage equal to 4 minus the number of squares it is from Red Hulk. Characters who can use the Flight Ability automatically evade this attack.
So, if I Outwit the Flight Ability, would said character be affected by Major Earthquake?

I'm just not seeing how.
Are you a PbP'r (Play By Poster)? Come and check out www.creationmatrix.com; we've got EVERYTHING.
Wouldn't outwitting the Flight ability mean they can't USE it? I would think if it were outwitted then that figure would be affected by Red Hulk's power since it says:

Of course I tend to have to double check rules on things because i'm still semi-new but I wouldn't argue if someone did it to me because it seems like it would work.
Yeah, I'd say outwitting Flight makes them susceptible. It doesn't say "Characters that HAVE flight", but "Characters that can USE it". Can't use it if it's Outwitted.

When you Outwit the Flight ability, they gain Earthbound, which gives them the Boot Speed Symbol, thus making them subject to Red Hulks SP.
that isnt quite right...your only outwitting the flight ability (you cant outwit symbols) so they'll still have the carry ability that the flight symbol provides, where as Earthbound/Neutrulise takes away all ability symbols (indom, flight etc) and replaces them with standard abilites symbols.
Because the power specifies "characters who can use the flight ability" and not "characters with the or ", the characters would be subject to damage from Major Earthquake if use of the flight ability is in someway countered or lost.

Right conclusion, but wrong reason.

Jim is correct here. That distinction between gaining earthbound or losing the flight ability was important in one of my games tonight--I was using Thor's Mighty Chariot, and the the other player played the crosswinds bfc.
original wording:
Quote
CROSSWINDS
Characters with the wing speed symbol gain Earthbound. This ability may not be countered.
current player's guide wording:
Quote
CROSSWINDS
Character that can use the Flight ability cannot use the Flight or Carry ability.
I made sure we checked against the player's guide, because using the original wording, my chariot would have lost his , , and symbols, which would have had a significant impact.
I still lost, though.
