I believe it would be 2. Unless Spiderman and Mysterio are adjacent to each other (which seems like it may be implied, given that your mention of Energy Explosion would be moot otherwise).
If Spiderman and Mysterio are adjacent for the overlapping EE, Mysterio still takes 1 from being hit, 1 from crit, then one from the splash damage of Spiderman's hit, totalling to 3.
Spiderman evades the attack, meaning he takes 0.
That was my understanding of Supersenses vs Energy Explosion, at least.

nah if the initial target of EE makes their SS then no adjacent figures take the splash damage, since they were never hit.

No since there is only one attack he only makes one roll.
Splash damage and initial damage is also applied at the same time.

That was my line of thinking. But, Mysterio would take 2 damage either way

Energy Explosion
Give this character a ranged combat action; this attack can target only characters. For each target successfully hit, compare the attack roll to the defense value of each character adjacent to that target to determine if the attack also succeeds against it. Each character hit is dealt damage equal to the number of times it was hit by this attack (characters adjacent to multiple targets might be hit more than once). A critical hit automatically hits all targets and all characters adjacent to the targets and deals 1 additional damage to all characters hit. If a character evades the attack, it evades all hits by this attack.
