Energy Explosion
Give this character a ranged combat action; this attack can target only characters. For each target successfully hit, compare the attack roll to the defense value of each character adjacent to that target to determine if the attack also succeeds against it. Each character hit is dealt damage equal to the number of times it was hit by this attack (characters adjacent to multiple targets might be hit more than once). A critical hit automatically hits all targets and all characters...
As long as Nick was successfully attacked, and the roll was also high enough to hit the DV of the adajcent characters, that's all you need. Damage is not a requirement.
How would an adjacent characters SS or ESD interact with EE?
Would I get my SS roll, and would the attacker have to beat my +2D from ESD, if they're the adjacent friendly characters?

Both would activate. Super Senses activates when a character is hit by an attack. EE is an attack. ESD activates against ranged combat attacks. EE is a ranged combat attack.
Keep in mind it doesn't matter if the adjacent characters are friendly (to the target?) or not. Any character, friendly or opposing, adjacent to the target can be affected by EE splash.

Did EE used to be worded differently so that the adjacent characters didnt get to use those powers?

Oh cool, I didn't know you could hurt your own characters that way.
Does that mean they don't get the bonus if only the target is in the terrain or they won't get the bonus even if they are in the terrain?
If the LOF to the target of an EE attack crosses hindering terrain, including the square the target occupies, the target will get the hindering terrain modifier. A character that is subject to splash damage will not get the hindering terrain modifier, even if it occupies hindering terrain.
E, attack value 10, double targets A and B with Energy Explosion. A has a 15 defense and occupies hindering terrain. B has a 14 defense and occupies clear terrain. E rolls a 5. That misses A for the direct attack (because A had a 16 defense due to the hindering terrain) and hits B. We now compare the attack to A's defense for the splash damage. For splash, A does not get the benefit of hindering terrain. E rolled just high enough to splash A. So A and B will each be dealt 1 click of damage from the EE attack.

Wow, thanks, I never would have got that. Makes sense, though. Can't wait to use that to my advantage.
