I understand the team thing a little bit, like if you have like 4 X-men on your team you can use the team ability that lets you swap clicks or something, but what are the other keywords for?
Is there any bonus for more keywords or is it just little filler to tickle your fancy?
Like Ben Reilly WoS has scientist, is their anything that can do?

You are conjoining team abilities and keywords. Team abilities derive from the team symbol on the character's base. Keywords derive from the words listed at the top of the character cards. Some characters will have the X-Men team ability, but not necessarily the keyword. Some characters will have the X-Men keyword, but not the team ability.
The "healing ability" is the X-Men team ability, but it has nothing to do with whether the character has the X-Men keyword. The character must have the X-Men team symbol printed on its base (or be able to use the X-Men team ability as a wild card, etc.) to use the X-Men team ability.
Check page 20 of the 2010 Core Rulebook to see how building a force of characters with all the same keyword can benefit your team. (It's under the Themed Team section.)
