Kitty Pryde vs. Cap: What is the difference between "destroyed" and "removed"?
Issue at our release event tonight:
Kitty Pryde can remove an object from the game.
Captain America #40's shield can't be destroyed.
Can Kitty Pryde's power work on Captain America's shield?
Does "removing from the game" count as "destroying" for the purposes of Captain America's shield, or even in general? Are they two completely different things, like in Magic? Is the "intent" of Captain America's power more important than the exact wording?
Super King has all the powers of a king
plus all the powers of Superman
...also he's a robot
hey, that's cool! Super King, you rule!

Destroying means dealing 3 or more damage to an object, wall or blocking terrain. With objects, destroying them is followed by removing them from the game. Kitty skips destruction, and goes right to removing.
So, yes, she can. All destroyed objects are removed, not all removed objects are destroyed.
The wording is more important. If the wording doesn't match the intent, sometimes it's errata'd.

xlii is correct.
Kitty phased the shield out before the Cap'n could grab it!

The part in bold is not necessarily true. Dealing 3 damage to it is a way to destroy objects or terrain, but it is not the only way. For example, Molecule man can do this:
Quote
(3) Destroy a portion of a target wall bordering a single square.
But you are correct, though, that destroying and removing are not identical terms. Being unable to be destroyed does not prevent something from being removed.

Cap doesn't even have to throw The Shield Kitty can simply walk up, TAKE IT, and there isn't a damn thing Captain America can do about it. So that lovely Hammer of Thor Xavier rolled a 6 to get "and it's GONE", that Meteorite you were going to smack Hulk with "and it's GONE, and it's not a standard light object so Rampaging Hulk can't bring it back in to play.

That wasn't really my issue with Kitty, though. I understand how the power works.
I was just wondering about the interaction between "can't be destroyed" and "can remove".
Vlad's answered my question, though. Our judge made the right call, and I'll relay the clarifications in this thread to those players at our venue who don't read the forums.
I am, however, going to be yelling, "and it's GONE!" in my head every time I use Kitty, now...

Here is the text for Massive Disruption:

When Kitty Pryde moves due to her own action, after actions resolve you may remove from the map any objects occupying her square, an adjacent square, or being held by an adjacent character.
When a you roll a six for the Mjolnir, the hammer is not being "held", it is placed on the figs character or at least off the map. "Held" implies a character is using Super Strength to hold an object.
I suppose the Gem of Cyttorak and the Zodiac Key would be similarly unaffected when picked up by a fig.

That's correct. None of those objects are actually held by the characters, they are placed on the character's cards.
