So by placing the key in that square it was impossible for Scorpio to get his key. I ruled it legal since the terrain only restricts characters and not objects. Was I correct?
Same map: If a character is knocked back into the orange terrain, is normal knockback damage dealt since something impedes its progress? I think no because the terrain is not blocking terrain, a wall, or elevated terrain. Again, correct?
Thanks.
Visible Dials and Pushing Damage need to be optional. This is the way.

Yes. I see nothing that would prevent that.

KNOCK BACK DAMAGE
A character’s knock back path can’t continue
beyond a square that blocks movement, elevated
terrain of a higher elevation or the edge of the
map. If it would do so, the character’s knock back
path ends in the square before its path would
cross into any of these areas, and the character
is dealt 1 damage, as shown in Figure 10.
The orange terrain on the Helicarrier S-4 map blocks movement, so the character would be dealt 1 normal knock back damage, and then an additional 1 unavoidable damage from the special rules of the map.

Orange terrain IS clear terrain ? I though you can only place objects in clear terrain, and thu that orange terrain was off limits. Was I wrong ?
Special terrain is a modifier of existing terrain, unless the special terrain description specifically says otherwise.
For example, if the descrption were to say "this is blocking terrain", then it is blocking terrain. Otherwise, the terrain type is the same as whatever area it appears within. In the Helicarrier's case, there is nothing in the description to say it is not clear terrain and, on the map, there are no additional colored boundary lines indicating that it is hindering or blocking or anything other than clear.
So it is clear. Clear with some additional special rules, sure, but still clear.
What about adjacency? I assume that because an orange square is "10,000 feet below squares" that it would NOT be adjacent to a non-orange square? That would therefore prevent a character like Nightcrawler from "placing" a carried character in an orange square? Correct?
The special rules for the orange borders on the Helicarrier indoor map are:
Orange squares are 10,000 feet below squares. Characters can't move into or occupy these squares. If a character's knock bath path is stopped by one of these squares, deal that character an additional 1 unavoidable damage.

The orange 10,000 feet below squares would still be considered adjacent to non-orange squares, but Nightcrawler still can't place a character in one because they can't be occupied by characters. But if a heavy or light object found it's way into one adjacent to a non-orange square, a character with Super Strength could still pick up said object when moving adjacent to it.

I would agree with this logic.

Got it. Thanks. Interesting that a normal object in an orange square can be grabbed by an adjacent character with super strength. They must have built in flight rings.

I'm actually kind of surprised that they didn't add a line similar to the Open Air (low gravity) squares on Hawkworld.

Hawkworld
Orange squares are Open Air (Low Gravity). After actions resolve, if a character who can‘t use the Flight ability occupies an Open Air square, deal them 1 unavoidable damage, then that character‘s owner places them in their starting area. Non-held objects in Open Air squares are removed from the map. Open Air squares are otherwise treated as clear terrain
But they didn't, so it works how I described above .
