Work in Progress: Babies in Rockets, Exploding Planet, etc.
Had some free time to kill and hanging out at Clixathon with the Maryland crew got me in the mapping mood. Normally I plot out the map first on paper and then plan where the terrain features will land.
With Superman around the bend, I wanted to paint this image in my head. Not too sold on the rocket... I could take it or leave it. Keep in mind, I've seriously reduced the image quality down on this for a quick preview image.
Wondering about the center planet... blocking??? Who knows. Kind of bland play wise. But its the first time I painted something purely for imagery and then plopped a grid layer on afterward.
Looking for terrain marker suggestions! I'll probably make this available for everyone once it's finished.

It might be interesting if it got more "radioactive" the closer you got to the center of the planet. Or had debris objects flying out from the center. Might get too complicated though.
I might offer a suggestion for special Game Text (Orange Terrain) to make this into a scenario.
You could make it a reverse -Turtle game.
I will explain more in my next post.

The Rocket could be Blocking. Krypton could be Blocking or Orange terrain, maybe like the lava squares from the Thor map (1 unavoidable damage). Toss in some nebulous clouds or shockwaves as Hindering and you should be good to go.
Edit: Maybe Krypton could be Orange: blocks Line of Fire AND deals 1 unavoidable damage if you end a turn in it.

How about if the map mhad the same "space" move rules as the Super Nova map, and each concentric circle closer to the exploding planet added a feature:
1. Outside the outermost ring, only the "normal" space effects
2. Inside outermost ring, no space effect, -2 on movement
3. Inside next ring, no space effect, -3 on movement and "poison" effect at end of owning player's turn - deal 1 damge due to radiation
4. Inside next ring, no space effect, -4 on movement, "double poison" effect as above but deals 2 damage
5. Over "planet," acts as "super-hindering" terrain by ending movement as soon as you enter regardless of Movement type, Movement halved, "double poison" effect, plus one opposing player (to owning player's right) gets an attack roll each turn for planetary debris (10 Attack, 3 Damage!)
Wow, pretty complicated but fun! Maybe as an optional scenario rule set for this map?

It's a cool image, but I'm not sure I totally get it. You're fighting in front of Krypton as it explodes while baby Superman flies by? Are you fighting for control of the rocket? Can you destroy the rocket to remove Superman from the timeline and automatically beat all Superman figures?
Anyway, the map effect I would recommend is for some kind of debris effect. I'm not very good at rules, but something like:
For every character on the map roll a pair of die. Add 1 to your roll for every square you are away from the planet. If the result is less than 7, that character takes 2 damage and has a heavy object placed next to them.

Much cleaner than mine!

Start the game with terrain markers on all of the planet squares. Terrain markers act as blocking terrain and cannot be destroyed. At the beginning of each players turn you may roll 1d6 and move one terrain marker half of the result in a straight line away from the center of the map. If a character gets hit with a terrain marker, remove the marker from the game and the character is dealt 2 unavoidable damage.
Yes, each turn, a player places a Kryptonite token on the planet. At the beginning of your turn, roll a D6 move each token that many squares in a strait line directly away from the planet. If it comes in contact with a figure, it causes knockback damage. If the figure has the Superman TA, or the Kryptonian Keyword, it causes penetrating damage.
Kryptonite Token: This is considered blocking terrain.
I figure it moves either up or down, or in a diagnal. Could make figure placement interesting interesting too.

Squares inside the orange boder represent Krypton. Before the start of the game, each player places on Kryptonite token on Krypton. At the beginning of each players turn, that player places a Kryptonite Token in an orange square. After the token has been placed, roll 1D6. Move each kryptonite token that many squares in a strait line directly away from Krypton as many squares as the dice roll until it reaches the edge of the map, or if it's path is blocked by a figure. If it reaches the edge of the map, remove it from the map. If it is blocked by a figure, deal that figure knockback damage. Kryptonite Token effects happen when they are stopped by figures.

Kryptonite Token (Green): The square this token is in is considered blocking terrain. Damage dealt to characters with the Superman Ally team ability or the Kryptonian Keyword that are adjacent to this token can't be reduced.
Not sure if the ship should represent anything. I would almost just have it as something in the background. Players will have enough to worry about trying to make sure they aren't stopping in a place that's going to get them hit with flying blocking terrain.
Aditional rules I could think of:
Get mostly green rocks, but they make other colors. Put one or two of these in a bag with the green, and have a blind draw of what Kryptonite you are placing. Have different effects if one of them are drawn to be placed
