I am trying to figure out carry and how it works exactly can any character carry another one or do they have to have super strength? What are the rules on carry exactly?
And how do you know a character can carry in the first place?

Neither. A character must be able to use the Carry ability in order to carry another character. There are several ways this could happen, but the most common ways are possessing one of the following combat symbols: , , , , or
Each of those combat symbols allow the characters possessing them to use a variety of different combat abilities, including Carry. See the PAC for more on the different combat symbols and what they do.

From the PAC:
Carry
When moving as a result of being given an action, this character may carry one friendly character. When this ability is used, modify this character's speed value by –2 until the end of the action. Only characters with a combination of the following symbols can be carried: , , , , , , . If a character has any other combat symbols or is holding an object it cannot be carried. To be carried, the friendly character must be adjacent to this character at the beginning of this character's action. When this character ends its movement for the action, the carried character must be placed in a square adjacent to this character. While being carried, a carried character is not adjacent to any character nor can it draw a line of fire until placed at the end of this character's movement for the action. A character which has been carried this turn can't be given an action (other than a free action) until the beginning of the next turn.
Yes, unless a power, ability or trait possessed by either the carrier or the one being carried specifically disallows it.
IN most cases. In the case of Mjolnir, you CAN'T carry. It specifically states the "Flight" ability, not the symbol. Flight ability doesn't grant the Carry ability.
Contrary to popular belief, I do know what I'm doing

Also true for a smattering of other characters that are granted Flight but not Carry or (such as SI Namor).
NO that shorthand will definitely get you in trouble.
You can carry when you have the CARRY ABILITY.
But the FLIGHT ABILITY does NOT give you the Carry ABility
The and symbols give you both the CARRY and FLIGHT ability, but becareful because you can definitely get the FLIGHT Ability without getting the CARRY ABILITY.

so as long ### you have you can carry anything else is subject to other limitations before carry can be confirmed correct?
I am not sure exactly what you mean by "subject to other limitations before carry can be confirmed", but those three symbols will definitely allow your character to use Carry... now whether or not there is anything on the map that they can use Carry on is another question.
A character with the wing speed symbol is a flier and possesses the Flight ability and Carry ability.
A character with the wing symbol printed in reverse is a transporter and a flier, and possesses the Flight ability, the Carry ability, and the Move and Attack ability.
dumb question, but how does hypersonic and running shot factor in to this? what is done with the person being carried and how are the attacks carried out?

Anytime a figure is moving under its own power, it can use Carry. (Presuming, of course, that it can use Carry!) This includes Hypersonic Speed, Running Shot, Charge, Phasing/Teleport, etc.
Remember that you modify your speed by -2. This really hurts with Running shot since modifiers take place after the 1/2 speed for using RS. For instance, if a figure has speed 10 and uses Running Shot while carrying, his speed becomes 3! (Running Shot halves 10 to 5, then carrying reduces 5 by 2 for 3.) Carrying while using RS or Charge can slow you down hard!
You place your carried figure down after you are finished moving. For Charge and Running Shot, this is before you make the attack. With Hypersonic Speed, this will be after you make the attack, as you can move afterward. Note that this isn't optional. You can't place the carried figure down before the attack with HSS, period, not even if you have already used all your available movement, not even if you aren't going to move the piece after the attack. The piece is set down after with HSS.
This is primarily important when the piece you are carrying affects the attack in some fashion, such as having Enhancement or the SHIELD team ability.
i get it. i couldn't remember how it worked in those instances when playing the other day. thanks.
