Anyone out there play Magic: The Gathering?

I figured a discussion thread might be interesting.

I play! Though mostly via Magic Online.

I've got a bunch of friends and coworkers that play. I got back into it with Scars Of Mirrodin, after having not played since Odyssey.

I've been playing off and on again since Revised. I play MtGO mainly because it's just easier to play at any time (I generally play in 8 man sealed drafts) since I have the little one.

We were just dragged into it a few months back thanks to a "friend" who clearly felt we had too much cash on hand and needed another hobby. I think he was getting us back for introducing him to HeroClix.

How long does one of those sealed 8 mans take?

I think I average about 2 hours. It can drag if there are slow players but it's all timed so it can't go too long.

I have been off an on since Revised. I am more off right now. I have decks that are fun to play. They can't really stand up to anything current because some of those rares and mythic rares has some crazy casting costs that seem "broken"

I mostly play Commander, but I've been playing in varying degrees for many years. I believe that Magic is the best tabletop game that I'm aware of, although the less-than-perfect community drops it several notches and makes Heroclix my main game. Still, it's better balanced and deeper than Heroclix, and I follow it consistently even when I'm not really playing.

I play casually as well as Duels of the Planeswalkers(both games) on X-Box Live. I first got in around Stronghold and was on and off until the 2010 Core set/Zendikar. What types of decks do you guys like to play?

Right now I've got a handful of commander decks (Geth, Konda, Sen Triplets, Mayael, Lorthos, Savra, Riku, and possibly one more I'm forgetting) and a few old standard decks lying around. I also threw together a goofy black/red vampire deck when Innistrad came out for casual games with a couple of people I know who don't like commander.

My decks are currently:

A Blue/Red/Black control deck where everything on the board ends up mine except land.
A Blue/Black Infect deck.
A Red artifact destruction/burn deck.
A white token creature deck.
A white Kor equipment deck.
A blue counter deck built around Guile.
A blue annoyance deck built around Tims and Intruder Alarm.
A blue/red Flashback deck.
A blue/artifact mill deck.
A white/green/blue Golem deck.
A 5 color Chancellor deck.
A red/black land destruction deck.
A white/red Phyrexian Mana deck.
A blue/black Zombie deck.

I only play casual (because there's no place in range to do anything else, and I'm pretty new), but I've got a few decks:

• White Kor/Living Weapon
• Black Captivating Vampire
• Blue/Black Infect/Proliferate
• Red/Green Werewolves
• Blue Illusions

I haven't had a chance to really try out the last two yet, but the top three have done well for me.

I'm trying to build a commander deck, but I don't have a lot of legendary creatures yet, and only four with multiple colors: Ulasht the Hate Seed (which, honestly, is just fun to say), Glissa the Traitor, Jor Kadeen the Prevailer and Olivia Voldareen. I just couldn't get decks around the first two to work to my satisfaction, but I've recently acquired the last two and I have hopes for Olivia.

I recently started playing when New Phyrexia came out. Most of my collection consists of Scars, Besieged, New Phyrexia, 11 Core, 12 Core, and Innistrad, with a few other sets thrown in.

I'm mostly a Red player but I also dabble in Black and White decks. I'm starting to take an intrest in Poison based decks. Gonna have to try one out soon.
