I'm playing in a tournament tonight that has the following parameters:
200 points
All clix must be from one team
No loners
I know that two people tonight have a Nightcrawler and I believe they are going to use him (I would). So I need help constructing a team that will nullify that piece quickly.
I was thinking of constructing a team with outwit at first but I dont want to rely on that power solely.
The strategy I was thinking of was a team with members having a high defence. This should negate Nightcrawler's multiple attacks for a couple rounds while I pound / incapacitate it.
Any suggestions?
Rulings made with the absence of logic are no rulings at all.
The best way to stop Nightcrawler (and the Flash), is with hindering terrain. Barrier and Smoke Cloud, as well as the hindering terrain on the map, all cause Nightcrawler to stop in his tracks when he hits them.
If you have some guys with leap/climb, then you're free to move and he's not.
The Bat Team would be an excellent fit. Brotherhood would also be okay, though they don't generally have l/c.
The other best tactic vs Nightcrawler is to use flyers who are soaring. Nightcrawler can't hit them AT ALL (works only on an outdoor map).
Avengers, Xmen and JLA would be good.
In memory of Masada.
And my totally sweet ninja name is: Yoshio Yamada -san (evilgenius).
Well, if you have to have a single team affiliation with no non-affiliated figures then your only starting Outwit choice is Avengers for rookie Black Panther. I'd expect to see a lot of Avengers teams there. But if you want to go elsewhere with your team I'd recommend Brotherhood. You can have Probability Control, which can let you reroll your attack if you miss NC or force your opponent to reroll that Super Senses roll. So either Destiny or rookie Scarlet Witch are good choices. You can also have Perplex from Mystique. Use it to Perplex up your attack to hit NC's high defense. Pyro and Avalanche are both good choices for Barrier, which could be use to trap NC as needed. Rookie Quicksilver is also a must. For 18 points he can be used to tie up other enemy figures rather well, allowing you to focus mor on NC and his support staff. Toad is also good for that purpose. Juggernaut could give Nightcrawler issues since an X-men team won't have Outwit starting off. That Invul is tough for NC to penetrate. Also Sabretooth is probably going to be worth your time to get the biggest potential damage (and he benfits from any PC you have on your team). Magneto is also a useful piece, just be careful to try to keep him at range and don't push him.
Now, NC alone is not a team, so you need to watch out for his support staff as well. Don't be surprised if vet Beast and some Gambit come out to Perplex NC's values up. One click to E or V Gambit will drop his Perplex, but with his Stealth you'll most likely need to hit him in close combat and with the X-men team power he could get that click back easily. if you have NC and V Beast on one team then there won't be much of anything else.
Given 200 points I think I'd try:
E Sabretooth (51)
V Pyro (42)
R Quicksilver (18)
E Avalanche (26)
R Mystique (34)
R Scarlet Witch (29)

I chose SW over Destiny since she has the same amount of PC but can try to damage someone ay range. In general you'll need you Perplex and PC to increase your attack values and/or reroll attacks and NC Super Senses. Pyro and Sabretooth have your highest attack values and damage potentials.
