I've seen a lot of threads about Imperiex owning Darkseid as well as just how he is generally awesome. My question is two fold (be nice I'm a new player) Part 1 is what is the best strategy to use him and his drills? The second part is what supporting pieces can be used best along side him? As for the question I would be asked, I'm talking any age Modern, or Golden (again I'm new so I don't have a lot of old stuff) and team point values between 400 and 1000. I'm not asking to have a team built just get a better understanding of an awesome piece.
One character to look at is Ice from DC75. Her special incap could be a pain for anyone under the drills. Some characters like HT Venom who have shape change, super senses and plasticity who can tie up opponent's figures buying you time to get the drills under them. Crisis Harringer's special power of switching places with a friendly character within 6 squares could help Imperiex get the first shot in.
Here's hoping we get a Vanilla Ice Clix in the next TMNT set.
Enhance is your friend.
-Major Glenn Talbot-Enhance, SHIELD TA, Willpower, 33pts.
Cosmic connections
-Dominator-Enhance, Outwit as a power action, 36pts.
-Ruling Caste Dominator-Outwit, +2 Range for other Cosmic characters, 76pts.
Drilling for victory
Use Incapacitate
-Maxwell Lord-Triple target Incap, Mind Control, Outwit, Perplex, 99pts
-Star Boy-Dual target Incap, TK, Wildcard, Useful trait, 86pts.
As for fighting against Imperiex...
-If you can get him past the 19 Impervious, you have a decent chance. You can do this with a couple of Mystic feedback clicks or some long-range Psychic Blast.
-Limit his usefulness with Incapacitate. Keep him covered up on action tokens and he can't do anything.
-Base him with Shape Change/Exploit Weakness and pray for successful Shape Change rolls. (would never work for me)
I have always been VERY successful when I play him so my advice for playing him is better than my advice for beating him.
Nobody in my area has really played Imperiex as far as I have seen. We do special events all the time to prevent stagnant gaming where only one team constantly is played. After doing some research I found a few characters that can be useful in playing Imperiex (all pieces I have)
Imperiex
Doctor Fate (rookie, 85 points)
Maxwell Lord (99 points)
Vertigo (veteran, 65 points)
Hardball (34 points)
Amadeus Cho (59 points)
S.H.I.E.L.D. Special Agent (37 points)
Con Artist (rookie, 11 points)
A.I.M. Agent (38 points)
Using a team consisting of figures above and others I plan on abusing the Hydra ability, S.H.I.E.L.D ability, enhancement, and Probability Control to ensure Imperiex hitting his targets. Also having Maxwell Lord and Vertigo run around the field Incapacitating everyone they can get their sights on. I would probably use Protected on Imperiex, and In Contact with Oracle on Maxwell, Imperiex, and Vertigo to boost attack power so they can incap their targets. I figure I might be able to have Imperiex hitting for 8 damage (potentially outwitting a defensive power) on any of his first hit targets.
If I were to build a 600 point team, or even 700 point team, what do you all suggest? I have ideas just looking for input.
Wouldn't the theme team with Imperiex be multi-structured, of course depending on point values. You can run a robot theme with him using Eradicator, Superman Robot, and Cyborg Superman as your front attackers with Imperiex as back fodder doing nasty things using the Wall of S to protect him. But running the Incapacitate team, Cosmic, and themed could prove to be difficult.
