I know it's early and we still don't know the rest of GG but I would just like to share my teams and get some feedback.
Month 5 is 700pts and 400pts has to be from GG or IH.
Team 1
Thanos @ 150pts
Dormammu @ 250pts
Mindless One x3
700pts
The whole team can be pushed without penalty due to and Power Cosmic. Lots of penetrating damage. Mystics. Empower Thanos w/ Dormammu. Probability Control. The only catch is Thanos Avatar Of Death cancels Dormammu's own Regen. Maybe Thanos will be KO'ed by then.
Team 2
GG Gladiator
GG Adam Warlock
Watcher @ 50pts
GG Captain Marvel
SI Dr. Strange
700pts
Mega Gladiator Bomb!! Goal is to perplex Gladiator up w/ Warlock, Watcher, and Dr. Strange and then let the Gladiator bomb fly! Hopefully I roll Wand of Watoomb and that gives me an additional Perplex. If not Perplex Gladiator's damage up 1 and attack up 2, if I get the wand roll up his attack another 1. If my opponent turtles Perplex up his speed. Roll Gladiator out picking up a heavy in the process. This gives him a 8 w/ a 14 . Goodnight!
It will be everything up to Brave and the Bold for sure (if the last 2 years and the Comprehensive Tournament rules are any indication) and it could possibly include Brave and the Bold.
The past 2 years they have announced the new Modern Age cut-off at the very beginning of May. That would eliminate AA, SI, HoT and most likely BatB from Modern Age.
Venue: The Gaming Goat in Elgin, IL. Find us in the WizKids event system.
I don't see why anyone wouldn't just play Galactus w/ the Gauntlet if they own him. You won't even need the extra points, but fill it up with whatever the hell you want I guess. Maybe Uatu or something.
Seriously. I hope venues are smart enough about this to drop the format down to something less than 600, or ban Galactus from the tournament.
Agreed. I don't see the slightest chance of me not playing galactus in an event like this. Galactus, Gauntlet with 2 choice gems, dirk anger, and a herald. GO DIRK ANGER!
So far I must agree, I feel like Galactus is a serious no-brainer. Obviously with playtesting someone may find something that beats him and does well against other teams, but so far... yeah, he looks to be very, very hard to beat.
aqhoffman- greatest post possibly ever
jtallday- Jon I wouldn't challenge you if I wasn't sure you are wrong cuz I don't have that kind of energy.
Jon...always like your builds, so I'm wondering if you're thinking along the same lines as I am. 100 pts left to do whatever you want, knowing that you'll have a herald. Barring a new team in the next 2 months, you go with alternate support for the Big G, or do you stick Dirk on the team to nerf the quite possible opponent's Big G. Without knowing what the map is, right now I'm thinking that a Galactus w/ IG & 2 gems would go very nicely with dirk and a superman. Superman provides not only the power, but also the outwit to go along with dirk

Egads that will be a sad month.
"Oh look, everyone is playing Galactus!"
-goes to figure out how to beat Galactus down in 2 rounds...

Or venues can be smart and just ban Galactus from the tournament. Who wants to go to a tournament with only two teams - those playing Galactus, and those losing?
Actually, looking at his dial, Galactus is a chump in 700 points. Granted, you need to build around him, but then any team that can beat him, can beat just about anything.
