I am sure these have been asked before. Does a barrier block lof between 2 elevated figures on differnt buildings if the character who created the barrier is on the ground? Can an elevated figure shoot over a barrier on the ground? Do soaring characters block lof between 2 elevated figures? Thanks.
Barriers (Blocking Terrain) always block line of fire.
For determining line of fire (Not range) it doesn't matter whether figures are hovering or soaring. (So whether a soaring character blocks line of fire between two elevated characters depends on whether the characters is on grounded or elevated terrain.)
Cody,
In answer to the original question, NO, LOF is not blocked between to characters on opposite buildings by a grounded barrier. The barrier would have to be elevated as well.

That is incorrect.
The PAC says that barrier creates blocking terrain. Characters on elevated terrain ignore gounded hindering terrain (and grounded figures), for purposes of LOF, but are affected by grounded blocking terrain (including Barrier squares).
A grounded barrier does not prevent two elevated figures from shooting each other, it only blocks line of fire to a target on the ground, whether the attacker is grounded or elevated. An elevated barrier (which means one placed on elevated terrain) will block LoF between two elevated figures.
Whenever someone asks me what I think the most dangerous animal is, i tell them it has to be a shark riding on an elephant, just eating and trampling everything in sight.
Does a barrier block lof between 2 elevated figures on differnt buildings if the character who created the barrier is on the ground?
If the Barrier is also on Grounded terrain, then no... the Elevated figures would be able to fire at each other.

If both the attacker and target are on elevated clear terrain, nothing affects the line of fire except elevated hindering and [elevated] blocking terrain, and other elevated figures.

Can an elevated figure shoot over a barrier on the ground?
No, the only Blocking terrain that can intersect Line of Fire has to be in the square the Elevated figure is in.

Do soaring characters block lof between 2 elevated figures?
Yes, in the same way a Soaring figure would block Line of Fire between to grounded figures.
What if the Soaring characteris on a "grounded" square?
What I'm saying is: If 2 figures are on 2 different buildings and are shooting at each other, would a soaring figure, whose base is standing on a grounded square, still block LOF since you ignore grounded terrain and figures?
What if the Soaring characteris on a "grounded" square?
I'm going to have to say "yes, a 'grounded' Soaring figure would block Line of Fire between to Elevated figures" at this point. I believe these very issues are currently being discussed in the Judges forum... so they might not have a definitive answer yet.
Tannik, thanks for intervening, but please be sure that your answers are clear. I can't really make heads or tails of this.
Here are the rules as far as I understand them.
1. Elevated attackers ignore grounded hindering terrain and grounded figures except for hindering terrain on the square that the target is in when drawing lines of fire. Otherwise all LOF rules apply as normal.
2. Barriers create blocking terrain.
3. Blocking terrain blocks line of fire.
So, if an elevated attacker draws a line of fire through blocking terrain (elevated or grounded blocking terrain) the line of fire is blocked unless the target is on that square of blocking terrain.

I'm not familiar with this ruling. Please indicate the FAQ section or section of the rule book where this is covered.

Straight from the rulebook:

If both the attacker and target are on elevated clear terrain, nothing affects the line of fire except elevated hindering and blocking terrain, and other elevated figures.
Its cool, but you do understand my arguement, right?
I think I do, but I believe that this hasn't really been settled yet.
In the rulebook, approx pg17, under Elevated terrain

So, an Elevated figure draws Line of Fire to another Elevated figure (on another building).... ONLY other Elevated figures, Soaring figures, Elevated hindering and Elevated Blocking would actually affect this Line of Fire.
