I wasn't active for 3 to 4 months and have finally found some time to start going to tournies again.
There were a couple of issues with the rules that weren't resolved completely(or they were and I didn't know better)
And they have come up at the tourney I play in. Now I don't mind playing it the way the judge has it there, but I want to know the "official" way it is played.
Both problems are with roofs, or elevated terrain.
Issue 1: Judge rules it that as long as you are on the roof's edge you have line of site on everything on the ground.
X is roof
O is figure
G is Ground

I was under the impression the roof's edge would eventually block LoS.
Issue 2: Elevated blocking terrain. What was the ruling on it? I know flyers could be there. Can L/Cers? How about grounded characters flown there or Tk'd there? Can they fire out or fight using B2B? Can the B2B if they have L/C?
In the tourney it was played as another level of elevation, which I'm pretty sure isn't right.
#1 - LOS from rooftop is determined by the diagonals, you have LOS to anyone on the ground within your diagonals.
In your diagram, no figure would have LOS on each other.
#2 - This is such a weird one. You cannot drop a figure there, but a figure with L/C or flight can get there. You can fire out, not in from range, and can only fight b2b with L/C.
The ruling as I understand it is that a figure cannot get there unless they can get there themselves. So, no TKing for example.
I'm foggy on this one, if anyone wants to clear it up.
Anything past the direct diagonal from the figure will be blocked by the "elevated terrain" square in the adjacent block to the firer. So if you're on the corner you have a 180º field to fire at on the ground below, 90ºs each way from the diagonal through the corner. From a side you have a 90º field of fire through the diagonals of the square you stand in.
I found my answer in the faq for the elevated terrain, now is there anything official on the line of sight thing?
"Blocking Terrain
The various air conditioners, vents, etc., are considered blocking terrain.
These objects are defined as squares on rooftops surrounded by thick black
lines.
• Only flying characters and characters with the Leap/Climb Power can enter these spaces.
• Blocking terrain can be destroyed. Each space requires a different attack, and only a single rubble tile is placed in the destroyed space.
• All walls on the Indoor Map are considered indoor blocking terrain.
• All walls are assumed to stop exactly at the edges of squares. So, even if it looks like a wall “sticks out” into a doorway, it isn’t, and thus diagonal attacks can pass through without being blocked.
• A Leap/Climb or hovering figure that ends its move on top of outdoor blocking terrain may attack another figure using a ranged combat attack as long as the only blocking terrain the line of fire crosses is part of the square the attacker occupies.
• A Leap/Climb or hovering figure that ends its move on top of outdoor blocking terrain can be attacked by another figure using a ranged combat attack as long as the only blocking terrain the line of fire crosses is part of the square the target occupies.
• A Leap/Climb or hovering character that ends its move on top of outdoor blocking terrain is not considered to be adjacent to any other figure that is not also on top of outdoor blocking terrain."
"To determine if there is a clear line of fire, use any straight edge or draw an imaginary line from the center of the attacker’s square to the center of the target’s square. Line of fire is blocked and the attack cannot be made if the imaginary line passes through a square that contains a figure other than the attacker or the target, or the line of fire crosses blocking terrain."
If you draw a straight line between squares that are more than 45 degrees out on either side of a roof edge square, the line will pass through the blocking terrain at the edge of the next square over from the attacker.
Anything that extends outside the lines will pass through the thick black line on top of the 'X' on either side of Attacker. Anything on or between the lines is fair game.
Hope that helps!
Whenever someone asks me what I think the most dangerous animal is, i tell them it has to be a shark riding on an elephant, just eating and trampling everything in sight.
1) if a person is standing on elevated blocking terrain and you destroy it. does the person on the terrain fall and take 2 clicks of damage?
2) elevated blocking terrain IS or IS NOT hindering terrain? if not, can i put an object on the elevated blocking terrain to make it hindering so i can stealth there?
retired player... retired collector... just waiting for heroclix to go out of bussiness so I can get the plastic dirt cheap!!
1) No. EBT is considered to be at the same level as normal elevated terrain, much as a barrier on the ground is still grounded. You only suffer falling damage from falling off a rooftop and to the ground.
2) It is exactly what its name implies: blocking terrain. Otherwise it would be called "elevated hindering terrain". You cannot place an object token on any terrain feature, so no.

ahhh it is? so i when i'm on EBT i don't have LOF to anything on a say a roof? like i was on elevated terrain on the roof? so it be just like i was on the roof except no one could close combat attack me except leap and climbers?
