S.H.I.E.L.D.: A friendly Figure occupying a square adjacent to a SHIELD agent delivers 1 extra click of damage when it hits with a ranged combat attack. This counts as a move action for the SHIELD agent, though the character does not move.
After reading on the forum over the last couple days, I've seen where people are using this ability to do up to 10 points of damage by having one person attack doing 2 pts. damage, and getting the SHIELD agents to add 8 more by surrounding him. But wouldn't that require 9 action points? It seems to me that this would take one action for the attacker, and one for each SHIELD agent that adds his point to the damage.
And if I'm reading it correctly, are you guys actually playing 900 point games? And with SHIELD agents? Wouldn't that pretty much fill one side of the map?
I haven't heard of this but maybe you are getting perplex mixed up w/ Shield? Perplex can raise the damage or any other stat on the dial including range to any figure. If you had 10 perplexers (con artists) you could raise the damage up by 10 and perplex doesn't require a move action, only LOS and range of 10 to the perplexed fig.
Yes the shield team ability can boost energy explosion to really make it disgusting. And with multiple targets it gets even more disgusting. i.e. Vet Boomerang with 3 ranged attacks and energy explosion can hit 3 targets A,B, and C. If all are successfully hit , base damage would be 3 to each one then the splash damage would be 3 more to A from the hit to B and 3 more to C also from the hit to B , and B would get the worst of it getting 6 from the hits to A and C . This assuming that A,B, and C are in adjacent to each other and in that order, from left to right with B in the middle . As u can see it can be quite devestating. So all told A received 6 clix , B received 9 , and C received 6, all from just one attack and using just 3 tokens/actions.
The thing is you could only legally surround one non-Sentinel figure with 7 adjacent SHIELD Agents. To use any more blocks LOF with the attacking character.
