I've just announced my next month IG tournament format (Highlander, no colossals, no relics, no special objects no ATA's) for the retailer store I'm Vounteering.
Some guys, when the obligatory discussion about the format began, stated that is like "the new modern age format"
I want to know if it's true, specially about the NO COLOSSALS in the new modern age format.
If it's just a rumor or not, I only want to find out ASAP.

Officially this is not the "new modern age format" but if that's what works for you then by all means run with it. I fully support the open concept of letting individual venues decide what is standard for their player base because at the end of the day we're supposed to be having fun.
Personally I think the above format is far too restrictive for my group. The "NO COLOSSALS" rule in particular I will not implement.

Thx and great week for everyone!
The new Modern Age just means anything before Brightest Day is retired starting July 1st. It does not ban colossals like others have said.
That said, if you run a venue, you are more than welcome to make up house rules for specific events. For example, in my Month 8, I have a scenario that bans the Infinity Gauntlet [for reasons based on the scenario].
I run HeroClix tournaments at Shuffle and Cut in La Habra, California. The format of each tournament will be posted here.
Our venue has been No Colossals (unless otherwise specifically noted) forever, since a long time before I got there, specifically as measures against stuff like Galactus, Spectre, Starro and the like. Personally, I'd like to see it revised to "No Colossals over 300," (or possibly 400/500) as the GSX ones and lower-pointed GG ones aren't that bad. New Galactus is manageable without his multi-attack and Herald, as is Ziran without his Tests and crazy potent SPs.
There's nothing in the Modern Age rules regarding Colossals. Only lower build total can keep them off the board, by the letter of the law.
Side Note: our venue kept Colossals off the board for IG Month 5, and though I couldn't make it (stupid real life!) after talking to everyone later, it seems our event was a lot more interesting than the Galactus/Gauntlet/support vs. Ziran/Gauntlet/support reports I've seen on here.
Why are people hating on Colossals lately??? If you are going to hate on them, also need to hate on Nightcrawler, Magneto, and Meltron as these are broken clixs... I like using my Galactus... Tired of seeing the hate on him and others...
In the words of Rocket Raccoon:"Ain't no thing like me, 'cept ME!"
Like I said to all my players; this format is JUST FOR THIS MONTH'S LEAGUE, I will not make the colossals, no ATA's, no Relics an "ALWAYS APPLY" because, like dairusq said, it's too restrictive for certain group of players.
thanks, specially to w10002.
We'll see what happens once we have nothing but THE BRIGHTEST DAY and beyond (pun intended)

Legitimate response, devoid of intentional hate, I promise:
It has to do with skill required for success. Most Colossals (old Galactus, Spectre, Dr. Manhattan, Starro, New Galactus, Ziran) require zero skill to win with. They win simply by overwhelming the opponent with absurd combat stats, unpreventable Test damage, really powerful SPs and Multi-attack, or multiple actions per turn from an amped up Herald, as well as being immune to a host of powers that are the ones designed to take out skyscrapers. Same lack of skill required to use Cosmic Spider-Man, which is why I hate on him too.
Nightcrawler doesn't require a whole ton of skill to use as his ridiculous D keeps him pretty safe no matter what, Metron requires a little more as he lacks move-and-attack powers (Gauntlet-less, anyway) and has a short dial for his points, even if it is awesome sauce. Also, Metron's pretty manageable in higher point games, where you can throw more meaningful attacks at him, or just avoid him and attack his allies. At 300 points, there's only so many hitters that can threaten Metron that can be fit on a team and it's harder to generate a point lead by attacking his support, so that's where he's the wickedest thing around. Magneto is very beatable if you've got the right mindset: he doesn't like it when people get next to him. You won't win a range war vs. Mags, but if you get in his face, you can win. Prevent triangulation of LoF for his TK assault, and he's beatable.
In my opinion, the more skilled player should usually win. Colossals imbalance that. Beat me straight up with skill and good decisions, I'll shake your hand and respect you. Beat me with something that a toddler could use successfully, I am not impressed.

Right. ATAs are all allowed in true Modern Age, and relics and special objects as long as the set that introduced them is still Modern-legal. No idea where your guys got their (mistaken) impression.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.
