I don't really expect an answer to this since the rules aren't officially out yet, but I just have to ask. The new rules article states:
First up is the addition of a new type of character: The PRIME Character. These characters are identified with a GREEN Ring on their base. Prime characters take Unique to the next level – you can only play ONE PRIME character per force, no matter how large your build total is.
Okay, but we already have a bunch of characters with green rings, all those bystander tokens from bygone days. Are they all primes now? Is this a sneaky way of eliminating all those horrific Mary Jane abuse teams? : - )
I can't have been the only person complaining about that ruling, but thanks. The more things I can get named after myself, the longer my legend will live into infinity! My ultimate goal in life is to hear someone quote something I've said misattributed to Mark Twain. (And doing it on purpose doesn't count, or I could have satisfied my goal years ago.)
OMG, they better not, I would be so pissed. More specifically, GG102 Hulk, CA30 Falcon, CA056 Squirrel Girl, and GG049 would want words with them.
Not to mention all the Horde tokens that are basically bystanders designed to be played in multiples. Either someone in design forgot what color the rings were on bystanders or bystanders are being designated something other than "characters" in the new rule book.
I don't get why this is a matter. Bystander Tokens don't have bases do they?
This hasn't stopped the few bystanders with LE rings from being treated as unique. It won't stop Prime either.

It has long been ruled (and by "long" I mean since IndyClix, at least) that Hypersonic Speed would work this way, but I've argued repeatedly that by the rules of the game, it shouldn't, without text like this sentence in either the PAC or the Player's Guide. The general rule is that if you lose a power after it has been activated, you continue to resolve the power. For instance, if you have a minion ability that gives you charge within 8 squares of a certain figure and you charge outside of that 8 squares, you still get to make your free close combat action. Flurry has to specifically state that it doesn't work this way. HSS has been ruled to not work that way, but the text was never entered into any official document until now. It makes my inner rules nerd happy that this has been fixed.
Of course, many other people have complained about this, so I'm not saying it should be called the Suttkus rule. But I never object to having things named after me.
