I don't want to play a game of chess where dumb luck or money decides whether or not I get to use a rook... Collectibility is a necessary evil of Heroclix, not a boon.
I too am curious about this. We played a scenario last week trying out the new mechanic and the question came up.
I was also wondering if you have a duo that has split and one of the figures gets KO'd, but the other survives, does your opponent get no points? Do they get the figure that was KO'd even though he was part of the original duo?
Head hurts... but yes, the question, especially when assigning the gauntlet is particularly of interest. Being able to assign a gauntlet to one piece, and then give it to two pieces seems like it needs an errata, STAT.

Check page 6 of the rulebook. It even provides an example:
Example: Jeff is using a Duo character with a point value of 200. Jeff gives the Duo character a power action to use Split, replacing the Duo with the qualifying replacement characters Hero-A (100 points) and Hero-B (75 points). If only Hero-A is KO’d, Jeff’s opponent will score 100 points. If both Hero-A and Hero-B are KO’d, Jeff’s opponent will score 200 points.

*sigh* Now I am THAT guy....
Guess I haven't read all of the new rule book yet. Thanks for the clarification. That is how we played it last week so I guess all is good.
Short answer: we're waiting for the final say from WK before the answer to this issue is announced.
Slightly longer answer: In the meantime, you all can play it however you and your venue deems it to be appropriate.
That's what I thought.
I'm going to rule it that you pick one of the figures that was split and they get the object/feat/gauntlet.
Now ATAs could be tricky. I think the ata cost should factor into tge cost of the figures you split into (assuming they can both use the ata).
Would the cost of a feat/gauntlet/ata add to the characters point value so that you can split into more expensive characters?
So in the Jeff example if the 200 point duo had a 10 point ata or feat could it be split into two 105 point characters? Or is this also something we are waiting on?

No. A character's point value is always what is listed on the base. In the same way that a 100pt character with mastermind and a 40pt gauntlet at 5 pt ATA is still a 100pt character, so cannot mastermind damage onto a 100pt character.

This is correct.
