I try & mix up teams, use clix in my boxes so that they're worth having, run themed teams etc but when you're forming teams for other purposes or winning purposes, who're the ones you go to for initial awesome and those you can slot in at the end or that don't take up too many points for their use?

I have several but I'll start the ball rolling with:
- Psylocke vet Xplosion
- Scarlett Witch FF054
- Dark Knight Returns Batman
- Rookie Thug
- Hawkeye FF012
- Polaris rookie or vet
- Ultimate Cyke (69pts) but he's probably overshadowed by his 616 better now!

I recently started the game from Chaos War, so my list is pretty limited. But still, Morgan Le Fay and Hawkeye from that set are my go-to clix to help out. They are pretty good by themselves and can have great synergy.

Maybe I should've dropped "initial awesome figs" from my OP, coz it's really easy to say "Yeah, Strongest Fig buffed to the hilt with feats & bat belt & Inf gloves." coz that would be everyone's answer.

I mean those lesser powered heroes & villains that make their talents work for you. For example, people used to laugh when I fielded little 27pt Oracle in her wheelchair with a horrid defence and no scary damage output until play started & she creates mayhem on the board; the board she isn't even on!
Or Thug, yeah he's 6pts but your 200pt+ character is now based & my ranged assailant will chip away at it while you waste your 5 damage on that pesky Thug!

Manchester Black: he plays multiple roles from just flat out destroying someone's support and not really having many tokens, providing support with TK, and taking out the the tank with Psychic Blast. For 96 points you cannot go wrong.
