I am planning to use Zatanna 014, Batman 100, Deadman 013, Bane 103, and Batgirl 006. I am still debating on switching to use Batman 002, Nightwing 007, with Batman 100 and Bane 103. Potentially 8-14 players on 2-4 maps should be fun, but very ruthless.
You want "under the radar" pieces that give you the mobility to enter the battle.
Cyborg and his Pulse-Wave would be great for this kind of tournament but he's dead by turn 2. Outwitters, too. So is prob.
I'd build a team that has very few support powers or lots of Shape-Change and Super-Senses so players are more apt to leave you alone.
Another idea is to go with TK, Force Blast and Mind Control - using those pieces to force opponents to engage each other. They can't attack you if they are constantly adjacent to other opposing pieces.
Of course this assumes your group doesn't have a group of cliques in which if you are not in on one of them you are getting taken out regardless. In which case I'd play a very aggressive, heavy damage team and just go crazy on the group.
Visible Dials and Pushing Damage need to be optional. This is the way.
