I would like to talk briefly about the new battelfield promotion option. Currently I feel it is used poorly. It is sort of well... trash. I'm saying this after trying it out on several figures. The first thing that strikes you is "Why not just play the promoted version up front?" This isn't Yugioh. You don't have to special summon a figure to the board to be able to play it. When looking at the point difference many times you are better off with one of the versions and rarely both. Many times if you play both you could lose a keyword and that could cost you the game.
The next major flaw I see is the damage requirement. Lets look at Marvel Girl for a moment...
BATTLEFIELD PROMOTION: DARK PHOENIX: When Marvel Girl hits one or more opposing characters, after actions resolve, place a Promotion Token on her character card. When Marvel Girl is KO'd, you may then roll a d6 that can't be rerolled and add 1 for each Promotion Token on her character card; on a result of 8 or higher, you may replace this character with M10A #021 Dark Phoenix on its yellow starting line. On a result of 10 or higher, the replaced character begins on its blue starting line. If you rolled a 6 and the result is 12 or higher, the replaced character begins on its green starting line.
Lets be honest you are not going to get this to go off. With 1 damage and no range the only option you have is tk and prayer. Lots of prayer. Will your opponent let you tk objects for attacks? Most likely not. Will you be tk objects for attack? Most likely not because they do more damage in the hands of your Super Strength brick. But she is a bit of a poor example.
If we look at Brainiac we see the core of the problem. You leave running shot pulse wave for a double power action power that gives you high mobility. The trade off isn't worth what you are losing.
Now some may say that by battelfield promoting you can gain some extra clicks of life. Well as it stands it is not that much more life. Your are looking at 2 clicks max in most cases.
Over all I think that wizkids try to do something better but couldn't figure out how to make the promotion reasonable and not to easy.
Honestly, I love this new idea. While yeah, some figs you MAY not want to promote for various reasons (losing keywords which could make it so they can't use a team prob on your team) it is freaking handy dandy to have a 55 point guy like Ted Kord Blue Beetle transform into a 100 or so Mystics piece. Likewise, a Weapon X promoting into that hyper annoying Skrull Wolverine.
I mean, as it is, its optional, so if you don't want to transform, simple as that, don't.
You don't need objects with jean. Just tk the opposing fig itself.
The question is how many times is your oppenent going to let you hit with tk? You are talking about a rough defense. Most of the time with tk you are moving your own pieces so much you can't get your opponents. Also with an 9 attack she isn't hitting to many figures with tk.
I am most definitely suspicious of Wizkids rushing ideas. I think it is obvious they have a lack of something, whether it be testing the ideas or having ideas worth testing...or they are trying to make money, and I have no problem with that. They have been in "revision mode" since the oreo bases, so making money is more important until revision is complete.
I've promoted Cap, Hulk, Storm and White Queen, so far. Hulk and WQ are the easiest. Hulk makes the jump easily with a friendly Mole Man (GG) to Mind Control him and avoid having Hulk/WB push.
Jean Grey is the hardest to promote, as it requires her to be hit and/or pushed to do. For this reason, it's understandable that her BP is triggered on a KO, but a difficult task nonetheless.
There isn't much variation between White Queen/Emma Frost and both versions of Storm and Thing; It would have been better to only feature one version of each, and open 3 more spots for other iconic Marvel characters (Dr. Doom, Dr. Strange, Professor X or classic Ultron).
If Battlefield Promotion could be extended to every character that has or -- promoting to a character that is 30-75 points more expensive and shares a keyword-- it would certainly open up many more possibilities, especially with Merge and Split.
well it is obvious wizkids is all about money they rush sets so that a new one comes out everymonth and they dont make enough of them so they become more valuable

That's uninformed.
Wizkids produced twice as much M10 and DC10 as any previous CTD set. It STILL sold out in a week.
The truth is, this game is great, and it's finally receiving the popularity it deserves. And so it sells fast. And Wizkids, being a small business, can't afford to overproduce. They increase every time, but they can't just flood the market.
And look at Hulk: despite there being more GG and CW produced, Hulk is still around, because we bought less of it, and because the tournament series IG brought in SO many new players to buy the new sets.
Wizkids has said that they put out SO many sets in part so that there's SOMETHING on the shelf for new players. It makes sense. The sets keep selling out. So they'll make more.
DC and Marvel 10th were high quality sets with great dial design and a fun flashback theme. The promotion was more to encourage you to play remakes of old dials. Personally, I dig any mechanic that lets me use more of my collection at once.
Don't act like more product is a bad thing. Don't act like a business trying to make money is a bad thing. They're not stomping on human rights or practicing unethical business or hurting the environment. They're not putting people out of homes or burying them beneath mountains of debt. So don't tear into Wizkids like they're drilling for oil in national parks.
I think you are looking at it all wrong. If you build a team with the focus on the expectation that you are going to promote then its like building a team where you expect to land on click 4 of a figure - sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't.
Instead, the Battlefield Promotion is a neat mid-battle effect that COULD happen.
If I wanted to use Emma Frost, I would pay the 114 and use her. If I wanted a cheaper version then I could consider using the White Queen. If the White Queen is rocking and I find myself snagging tokens then I go for the switch.
I don't use the Hulk at 87 so I can get the Worldbreaker. Instead I use a cheap Hulk that is effective and if he happens to get enough tokens, I have the chance of bringing in a monster of a figure. If I REALLY want to use Worldbreaker then it makes sense to just pay his price and use him.
Try using the "golden" versions on their own merits and use the Battlefield Promotion as a neat mid-battle option and you will see how awesome it really is. Just ask Robin...
Visible Dials and Pushing Damage need to be optional. This is the way.
So far, I've built around the idea that robin supports his Bat mentor, this has led to him usually keeping nearby and tossing out some Incaps and the Enhancement bonus. I've had the chance to promote him a few times now and I have to agree that it's a nice bonus to the battle, not a mechanic I worry about. I keep Nightwing on the side for those 300 point games where I might get the chance to play him. In a 400 pointer, I'm sure I'd just use him straight up.
