Ok, rate my 500 point team and give me some advice.
Made a thread earlier this week about making a team around CW Mr. Sinister. Here it is.
CW Mr. Sinister- 225
CWFF Scarlet Witch- 75
M10 Dark Phoenix- 100
GSXFF Rogue- 75
Im hoping to TK sinister around with scarlet witch and have Rogue and Phoenix intercept any strays. This will be my first tourney, so i'm not expecting to win. But it would be great to put up a good fight.
Rating 3.5/5. You know what you want to do and have the structure to do so.
You have two tk's, some perplex, some outwit, you have some real potential to put up a fight and do your thing. The most obvious problem I foresee is a Stealth team. It will really limit what Mr. Sinister can do. However don't be afraid to use Dark Phoenix as your attacker if need be.
I would say the three most important things that will determine your success or failure will be A) Your use of Perplex B) Threat assessment C) Use of Rogue.
Your damage may need some bolstering, but be careful, you really need to use your perplex well as most of your characters are squishy. As such you need to know when it's in your best interest to make sure you hit, make sure you hit hard, or when to dissuade attacks by using it on your D or their attack.
You need to be picking the right target. You don't really have a one-hit-Ko offense, nor a really high amount of solid attackers. As such each attack is crucial, make sure you are focusing on the right target.
I don't really like Rogue, but she can do her part. Her outwit could be huge against some targets. She can't tie-up really large targets effectively. You don't want to just give the opponent 75 points.
Good luck.
aqhoffman- greatest post possibly ever
jtallday- Jon I wouldn't challenge you if I wasn't sure you are wrong cuz I don't have that kind of energy.
Do you happen to have Skrullverine or Sabretooth? You can drop Rogue, drop Witch to 50, and pick up one of those guys. They're both a HUGE pain to kill, give you great close combat threats to help ease the pain if you're against Stealth, and will most certainly swing the game massively in your favor if you pull of the 6 for "I Can Rebuild You, Mutant."
Skrullverine is likely a good chunk better, especially if it's a No-Glove event, but you do have to have him.
I've been playing Sinister and other mutant related things a lot recently, and I've found that while Witch is amazing at 75, the point costs of these guys make you almost always play her at 50. I know you drop the TK for Sinister, but he's more of a behind the scenes type. He sits back and takes shots when he can, hopefully forcing an opponent to overextend while your other guys do a lot of work. At the end of a game, he's typically still sitting pretty and your opponent is gassed. Sinister is already hard to bring down, but against a battle-exhausted team he'll just laugh and shrug off hits left and right.
