Effective immediately, we have changed our email gateway to a new provder that will allow us to better manage our email (and hopefully resolve the whole "I received 50 emails in a row" issue). That being said; we have also implemented some additional "features" in the hopes of increasing our email reputation (yes, that's a thing). If your email bounces, you account will be disabled. If you hit "spam" or "abuse" in your email client, your account will be disabled. To re-enable your account; you just need to validate the email again. Additionally, to avoid email going into spam; please add "[email protected]" to your safe-senders/white-list. Thanks!
this is a great time for me to ask. How do I disable recieving notices in my email about thread updates? I'm on here way more than I am my email so notices are kinda pointless other than racking up my inbox.

To prevent new threads you post in from giving you updates, go to User CP -> Edit Options, then scroll down until you see the box named "Default Thread Subscription Mode". Select "Do Not Subscribe" or "No Email Notification" and you won't get any new emails. Scroll down to the bottom and hit "Save Changes."
To stop your old threads from sending you emails, go to User CP -> Subscribed Threads (List Subscriptions), select all of the boxes, scroll down to the bottom and select "Delete Subscription" or "No Email Notification" from the drop down box, and click "Go".

How do I know if my email provider has decided that 50 messages in 2 minutes with the same subject line has figured that HCR is spamming them? Why would my HCR account be suspended on account of this?

That's really between you and your provider. We are doing our part to have a clean email reputation; so as long as they're standards-compliant, you should be fine. And it's not a "suspension"; we're just putting the account in a "no email" state; that requires you to revalidate your email account. There is no warning/infraction associated with this.
Scratch that; some people just aren't smart enough to use email; and have opted to use their services "Spam" or "Abuse" buttons as a way to unsubscribe to email ... so our new service has now suspended out account. New plan: If you hit "Spam" or "Abuse" on an HCRealms/RealmWorx email; I'm going to automatically ban/suspend your account.
OK; our service has now been restored, and we have gotten things into an acceptible range for our email provider. That being said; people are still hitting Spam/Abuse because they can't figure out that it is different from Delete. I'm trying to give people warnings via PM when they do this; but eventually I'm just going to automate it and that will be it.
I don't think people realize that marking an email as spam has ramifications outside of their own inbox. Personally, I didn't realize that either until I read this thread and it took me a few posts to realize what you meant when you said that email reputation is a thing.
So essentially what you are saying is that when we mark email as spam, the host of the email address sending out that email is (or potentially could be) notified. I am sure some hosts are more forgiving than others, but I imagine those seeking to be a reputable email hosting service would frown upon their users using them to send out mass spam.
