Nightwing pulled himself up his zip line. The robber’s armor was badly damaged (see HDC #2 – Smash and Grab) and if he could reach the guy’s leg, he could hit him with his taser, knock out his flight capabilities and then swing them both to the safety of one of the rooftops below. He reached his arm back, ready to strike the finishing blow. His enemy pointed his arm cannon at him. That’s when Nightwing saw him. Trigon the Terrible was the very first villain the New Titans had fought together, a demonic monster looking to add entire worlds to hell’s population. The Titans had defeated him. They never expected him to return, much less as a seven hundred foot giant.
Nightwing’s moment of hesitation cost him. He rolled out of the way of the shot but the cannon blast hit his zip line, detaching him from the flying villain and putting him in free fall. “Oh well,” he thought to himself as he activated his costume’s glider and rocket boots, taking off towards Trigon. “Giant monsters before armed robbers.” As Nightwing passed the Transamerica Pyramid, he noticed his teammates battling a horde of demons on the streets bellow. He could see smoke billowing out of Raven’s cloak, covering the area. It wasn’t a normal tactic but it was one he could take advantage of.
Ignoring Trigon for the moment, he dove, landing in the thick of the smoke cloud as he switched his mask to thermal vision mode and reached into his utility belt for a gas mask. He paused, realizing he could breathe just fine. Hooray for magic. His mask, however couldn’t seem to pierce the darkness. Stupid magic.
“Dick!” Hearing the familiar voice, he turned to see the red silhouette of a boy in a cape sprinting towards him. “I’m so glad I found you!”
“Robin? What are you doing he…” Nightwing trailed off as he switched off his thermal vision and got a good look at the boy. He blinked and shook his head, not believing what he saw. “Jason?”
“Cyyyyyyborg!” Nothing. “Raven?” She frowned. “Beast Boooooy!” Still, no answer.
“Hello, Koriand’r.”
Starfire’s heart lit up as she saw her younger sister float out of the mists. “Komand’r!” She tackled her, giving her a big mid-air hug. “I thought you were dead,” she told Komand’r in their native tongue. Her sister’s powerful first punch shocked Starfire so much that she wasn’t prepared for the second, which sent her flying backwards. “Komand’r?” she stuttered in disbelief. “Why are you attacking me?”
“Have you already forgotten what you have done?” Komand’r sneered, speaking in perfect English as she pulled her fallen sister to her by a fistful of her red hair. “You left me to the Citadel and the Psions! You left me alone to be tortured and mutilated!”
“I didn’t know!” Starfire protested, tears streaming down her face.
“You didn’t care!” Komand’r shouted back. “Your escape voided the treaty with the Citadel! Do you even realize what you’ve done? How many of our people have died for your selfishness?”
Starfire couldn’t bring herself to fight back or argue. She only wept and bled as the guilt overtook her. “There’s only one thing you can do, sister. One way you can make it right.”
“Anything,” she whispered.
“Return to Tamaran with me. Together, we can save our planet.”
Beast Boy wandered around, changing into various animals. “Raven? Come on Raven, cut it out!”
He shape shifted into an eagle but couldn’t see through the smoke. A wolf? No scents. He tried a bat but even echolocation just wasn’t locating his friends or the bad guys.
“I’m not kidding, Raven! We don’t have time for this!”
“Help!” came a scream in the darkness.
Tara! Beast Boy morphed into a cheetah and sprinted after the voice until he found Terra and Starfire trying to hold off over a dozen demons on their own. Vic lay at her feet, blood and oil seeping out of his prone body. Beast Boy morphed into a bear and lunged at the nearest demon, swatting him away from Tara.
“Is Vic okay?” he growled.
“Does he looking f%cking okay to you? He might be f%cking dead by now. Where the hell have you been?”
No. Vic couldn’t be dead. He just couldn’t.
“Beast Boy!” Starfire called from above. They looked up to see her being restrained by a pair of winged demons while a third brandished a jagged short sword. “Help me!”
But it was too late. The blade came down, silencing her. The demons giggled as they dropped her headless corpse. It landed ten yards away from them with a disgusting splat. Beast Boy couldn't believe it. Before he even knew what was happening, a massive red hand grabbed him and tossed his into the nearest wall. He lay on the ground, clutching his now broken arm. A few seconds later, Tara slammed into the wall next to him, crying out in pain. They both could only watch as the monster walked over to them and thrust his trident into Terra’s belly.
“No!” Beast Boy shouted. He morphed into a gorilla and pulled the trident out. He glared at the monster before shoving the trident into his head. The demon fell and his allies ran and flew away at the sight of his death.
Changing back into human form, Beast Boy tore off his shirt and pressed it against Tara’s stomach. “It’s too late,” she protested with gritted teeth. “You didn't save me.”
“Don’t say that, Tara,” he begged. “You’re going to be okay.”
“Don’t lie to me. I’m going to die now and it’s all your fault.”
“No. Nononono.”
“You could have saved me. You could have saved Kory and Vic and your parents but you didn’t.”
“Tara…”
“You’re too weak,” she said before coughing up blood onto his bare chest as he tried in vain to keep enough pressure on her wound to stop the bleeding. “Too slow. Too stupid. We trusted you and you let us down. I…hate y…” Her eyes went dead.
“Tara?” No answer. “TARA!” Snot and tears mixed with her blood as Beast Boy clutched her body against hers. He had failed his friends. They were dead and he had no one to blame but himself.

“This can’t be real.”
“Of course it is, Dick,” Jason replied. “The gates to Hell are open. Demons are running free.” His eyes avoided Nightwing’s for a moment. “So are the damned.”
“Jason…what are you saying?”
“What can I say? Murderers go to hell.” Jason gave a halfhearted smile. “I really did push Felipe Garzonas off that building. I thought he deserved it.” He shrugged. Nightwing frowned and shook his head, his eyes watering up. He had seen Hell firsthand. He knew how souls were treated there. To think, this boy, who he had loved like a brother, had been forced to endure that. Jason was surprised at the display of emotion. “I…I’m sorry, Dick.”
“No, Jason.” Nightwing stepped forward and hugged the younger boy fiercely. “I’m sorry. Bruce blamed himself but it was always my fault.”
“What are you talking about?”
“If I hadn’t quit being Robin, if Bruce and I hadn’t had that fight, none of this would have happened.”
“Dick, that wasn’t your fault,” Jason assured him. “It wasn’t anybody’s fault but mine. I should have followed orders.”
“You shouldn’t have been there in the first place.”
“You’re right. I was in over my head, facing a monster that was too much for me. You know something about that…don’t you?” Images from Nightwing’s past flashed in his mind. He remembered seeing the blade tear through Roy’s chest from behind. He remembered the sound of the pistol and seeing Garth fall. He remembered Wally slip and fall into the pit, the scream as the spikes pierced his leg. He remembered looking up at Deathstroke, knowing that the Titans were through. (See Action Comics #1 – The Ending) He had been wrong. New Titans joined the battle and the old ones recovered but the memories stayed with him. “This is a monster you can’t beat,” Jason whispered. “Gather your team and run. Leave this to stronger heroes.”
“Alright, Raven,” Cyborg said, crossing his arms as the two of them stood in the center of the dark cloud. “Are you going to tell me what this is about or what?”
“Appeasing father,” she said, all four eyes looking down in shame. “Victor…he’s been hoarding magical energy for years, since we first defeated him.” She looked up at him, pleading. “He’s too powerful, now. Even with both Justice Leagues and the HDC at our backs, we’d still lose.”
“So what? We should just give up?”
“Yes!” she shouted. “Either way, Trigon gets what he wants but if we don’t fight him, you don’t have to die and I…I don’t want you to die.”
“Well I don’t want to live in a world run by a big demon guy,” he snapped. “We’re not running, Raven. Did you forget why we went after Trigon in the first place?” Cyborg extending his arm, pointing at Raven. “You were the one that said…” He looked at his hand, covered in brown skin. “That said…” Not steel and plastic. Skin. He looked at his other arm, barely believing his own eyes. It was real! Raven took a step towards him and ran her hands along his arms.
“My father’s presence enhances my powers,” she said with a tiny smile. “I can restore your body. I know how much you want this, Victor.” She brought her hand up to his cheek. He could feel her breath on his face. He knew then that he couldn’t resist her. “I know you don’t want to go through life with people judging you by the way you look…or without feeling the warmth of a woman’s love.” She slipped her robe from her shoulders, letting it fall to the ground to reveal her naked body. “In every way possible,” she whispered. Her small red hands helped him to remove his shirt. His muscular arms wrapped around her body. He brought his lips close to hers.
Tendrils of pure shadow seized Raven’s arms and tore her out of Cyborg’s embrace and into the air. Obsidian! “You’ll regret interfering, dark one,” Raven snarled, releasing her soul self. Her soul crashed into Obsidian’s shadow constructs, wrestling for control. The sky turned pitch black as his powers enveloped them. Raven felt cold and tired.
“I’m not going to let this happen, Raven,” he said as tentacles of darkness restrained his former teammate. She was weakening. Her strength was fading. It was as if this tiny bubble of light was all that existed. They were cut off from the rest of the world with none of her father’s rage to draw power from. “Snap out of it! You’re a hero!”
“You don’t know what I am!” She lashed out, sending her hatred, pain and anger into him. He retreating, groaning in pain. Raven pressed on, transferring more and more into him. She’d break him. Then, she’d be free. Free to do what she needed to. Free to…stop her father. As all her negative emotions left her and transferred into Todd, she realized that’s what she really wanted. A deep rumbling laughter echoed from every side. All she could see was darkness. “Todd?
“Ha HA! HAHAHAHA!” The shadow disappeared, dropping her ten feet onto the ground.
“Raven!” Cyborg ran over to her, offering a hand to help her up. “Your skin…” She looked down. The crimson had disappeared, leaving her skin its normal pale color. She clutched his metal hand.
“And yours…” He put her robe back on her. “Victor…I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to…” She embraced him, tears streaming from both her eyes.
“I know,” he said as he held her, feeling a twinge of regret. Part of him wished Obsidian hadn’t stopped her, that they had… No. Stupid thought.
From each side of them, the other Titans came through the mists. Starfire, her hair frayed and her clothes torn, Beast Boy, his eyes red, his shirt missing and his whole body shaking, Nightwing, cautiously looking around at the sky, and Arsenal, calmly walking with Troia’s unconscious body cradled in his arms.
Arsenal raised an eyebrow. “What the heck happened to you guys?”
“More duplicates,” Gar muttered before transforming into a tiger. He let out a ferocious roar. “Get away from him, Raven. The real Cyborg and Starfire are dead!”
“Calm yourself, Beast Boy,” Raven told him. The tiger morphed back into the tired green boy it had been moments before. “In answer to your question, Arsenal,” Raven began, clutching tightly to Cyborg’s chest. “I did. Everything each of you saw was a lie. I looked into your hearts and my brother created your worst nightmares.”
“Why?” Starfire asked, clearly confused and hurt.
“Because the Titans are the only thing that can defeat Trigon, his only weakness on this plane. We used our powers to try to make you too frightened, too distracted to fight back.”
“You’re still not making sense,” Nightwing pointed out. “What brother? Why are you helping Trigon?”
“My powers are fueled by my emotions,” Raven reminded them. “My father has strong emotions. My brother, Blood, used his dark magic to link us so that I would feel what Trigon did and work towards his goal, probably the death of everyone on Earth. Obsidian took those emotions away but they’ll come back if we don’t stop Trigon soon. This is our only chance.”
“She’s right,” Cyborg agreed, putting his personal feelings aside for the moment. “It’s up to us. Let’s stop this guy once and for all.”
The smoke parted and the team looked up to see the most powerful evil they had ever faced.
“Titans?” Raven asked, her soul self rising over her as her father grinned down at them.
“Together!”

Special Rules:
Arsenal isn’t part of the spell that allows the New Titans to hurt Trigon. If he makes a successful attack against Trigon that would deal damage, instead, roll a d6. On a result of 4-6, he’s managed to hit Trigon in the eye or some other vulnerable spot. Give Trigon an action token instead of dealing damage.

That was almost the team that I was going to be facing, here.
Initiative: 2+3=5
Map suggestion? We've got a boatload of new maps on hcutils but none of them really fit the setting. I started to go with the Metropolis map with the Daily Planet ball in the middle but I think we've done that one recently, haven't we?
Metropolis is okay, but as alternatives I would suggest Sakaar (for a hellish, blasted wasteland look) or Post-Quake Wayne Manor (for the big gash across the middle of the map).
I have to say, I enjoyed reading your intro. The Raven/Cyborg scene was especially interesting to see, and I enjoyed the use of Obsidian. When I realized that Raven was naked and being attacked by black tentacles though, I was like, "...I've seen this flash animation."

(Speed) Doppleganger: Give Trigon a power action. Put up to three SPECIAL markers in unoccupied squares to which Trigon has line of fire adjacent to opposing characters 8 or fewer squares from him; these are doppleganger tokens. Doppleganger tokens are not characters or terrain, but can be destroyed as if they are blocking terrain. Characters opposing to Trigon must break away from doppleganger tokens. When a character opposing to Trigon occupies a square adjacent to a doppleganger token or tokens is given a non-free action, deal the character 1 penetrating damage if the character is adjacent to a doppleganger token after the action is resolved. No more than three doppleganger tokens can be on the map at a time. At the end of any non-free action given to Trigon, he can remove any number of doppleganger tokens from the map.
(Damage) Reshape Reality: Trigon can use Outwit. Once during your turn, Trigon can use Barrier as a free action, but he can place only up to two barrier terrain markers.

Okay so, Trigon acts like he's also one elevation up in terms of LoF...but I'm not sure I understand the multiple elevations rules.
So if I'm on elevated, he can see me and I can see him, even if I'm not on the ledge. What about if Trigon is elevated but not on the ledge and we're grounded? Can we still see each other? What if neither of us is on elevated but elevated terrain is between us?
It's easiest to imagine it as if Trigon is a regular figure who carries around a single square of elevated terrain to stand on at all times.
So in those individual cases; If Trigon is standing on Elevated terrain (which would be putting him at Elevation level-2) he can draw LOF to everyone on Elevation level-1. But, he cannot see ground-level terrain if there are any squares of Elevation level-1 between him and the target grounded square.
So if he stands on the ledge of the elevated terrain, then he can still see down as any figure could. But otherwise he can't see over the ledge any better than any other figure.
If Trigon is on the grounded level, then yes, he's tall enough to see over the ledge and attack people on elevation-1. Just the same way as a regular character could shoot from one rooftop at a character on a neighboring rooftop. However he cannot see the grounded squares on the opposite side of that elevated terrain. So yes, you can "hide behind" elevated terrain.
Free) Nightwing uses the Outsiders team ability on Trigon, preventing his combat values from being modified.
Free) Leadership fails with a 1.
1) Starfire takes Nightwing's hand and flies to G20, dropping Nightwing at F21. She fires a starbolt at Trigon. 10 vs 18. Needs a 9, gets a 7. Raven probs it to an 8. Impervious is a 2. Kory's starbolt hits Trigon and burns his hand. The demon lord roars in fury. 2 after impervious. 1 to Starfire for mystics. Nightwing will take half the experience.
2) Raven's soul self blocks the way at E17, F18, G19 and H20.
