Has anyone out there used Apocalypse as a center piece of a team? If you've used him in a tournament, how'd he do?
I recently acquired him and I am trying to build a team around him. Any hints/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
in a large game it is fun to have him taxi Savage Hulk around. Either phasing or or plasticity work bery well when you have hulk right next to you sealing out damage
I've been toying around with some versions of Apocalypse and his four horsemen teams. Here are the two I like the best so far, though I haven't actually tried them in any play.
Apocalypse
Deathbird
V-Psylocke
E-Typhoid Mary
R-Mystique
Deathbird carries Psylocke for an opening perplexed running shot. Psylocke follows up with another attack. Apocalypse brings in Typhoid Mary for cleanup and gets himself into position to tie-up and use his super strength. Alternatively you can carry Apocalypse with Deathbird if you can get close enough to get him in range, too. Then move Psylocke on her own for enhancing Deathbird and Apocalypse.
Apocalypse
Deathbird
V-Psylocke
E-Shadowcat
R-Paramedic
R-Con Artist
This breaks the 4 horseman idea, but I think it may be a bit more tournament playable. Psylocke now has Shadowcat to trade damage to, and there's a medic to heal people up. The Con Artist does the perplexing instead of Mystique and you have one more flier that can get Apocalypse into position for attack.
Basically what I'm trying to do is leave Apocalypse to a secondary role instead of being an up front attacker. My opponent will likely focus on him first. I kind of like the first team better overall because it is more aggressive.
