Deathstroke and the Secret Society of Superheroes #1
“Exile”
By msthomps1
Head ringing. Throat on fire. He thought he heard muffled curses in the darkness. Can’t trust his mind. Not against him. Never should have underestimated Psimon.
“I can’t believe this. Every… retaliation for … misinterpretation. What we did to his daughter…”
“Only Slade knows. … him.”
“No!”
Clearer, now. Does Psimon not know he’s awake? Or is this a trick?
“Why not?”
“When you run over someone’s dog, you don’t shoot them in the face to cover it up! You apologize.”
“No offense, Psimon, but I don’t think that’ll go over well.”
“No sh*t!”
“Even if Slade forgives us for his daughter, we set a bunch of big shots up. Merlyn is part of that Society. Mirror Master is buddy buddy with the Rogues. We can’t have them coming after us.”
“Eliminate Slade. It’s our only choice.”
Need to escape. Can’t see what’s happening. Can’t move a muscle.
“No! There’s another way. There has to be! We can’t kill him. We can’t let him go. Even if I wipe his mind entirely, another telepath could repair it. What else can we do?”
“Well, I did have one thought…”
“Yeeeees. That’s perfect, Gizmo. Give me that.”
He can hear the knob turning. His thoughts…slippery. He has to leave, but why? Each plan fades from memory. Every idea slips through his grasp like smoke. “Where am I? ... Who am I?”

"Where did you say that anomaly popped up, Vic?"
"It was out in the desert near one of the crash sites where we took out a Lexcorp helicopter. Looks like a small heat signature, I’d assume an animal if it hadn’t showed up out of nowhere." Vic replied. Vic was a large athletic man in his early 20s. He looked like he would be right at home on any professional football field, except for the large part of his body that had been replaced and covered by cybernetic implants. Vic sat at a large bank of computer monitors surfing through a large network of spy satellites to try and get an image of the anomaly in question.
"Hey Tim, you're gonna want to see this!" Vic stood up so quickly that his chair was thrown backward a few feet. Tim, Vic's junior by 5 years, seemed be the opposite of the large man. He was a foot shorter and was outweighed by at least 100 pounds. When he reached the bank of monitors he stopped cold with an expression somewhere between excitement and trepidation.
"Vic, is that who I think it is? I thought Ultraman killed him."
"They said he has a pretty strong healing factor, but I've never seen anyone take a beating from the big guy like that and live. There's no way around it though. That's him, and he's alone and unarmed. Should we call it in to the Syndicate?"
"No, we can handle him. This is the chance we've been waiting for. Mobilize the team and let's go." Tim reached into a pouch on his belt and retrieved a black domino mask. He attached it to his face as he walked out of the monitor room and headed toward the Titan's hangar. Talon was ready to redeem himself.

Back out in the Mojave Desert a man stood in the early morning sunlight, taken in completely by the vista spreading out before him. He had no words to describe the sunrise. It was the first sunrise he could remember seeing. The first thing other than a lingering blackness, not only of the eyes but of his very mind. He wore the remains of an orange prison jumpsuit.
The man finally tore his gaze away from the sunrise and looked around. How had he gotten here? Where was here exactly? As he scanned the horizon trying to decide which direction to start walking he noticed a metallic glint off in the distance. Immediately and without conscious thought the man began to move. He was standing out in the open, and for some reason, that was a bad thing. He needed to find cover, and set up terrain for a battle. Why he needed to do this however was beyond him. Exactly 268 meters to the northeast from his position there was a large boulder, and some other large rocks strewn about the desert sand. How had he known the distance instinctively? He began sprinting for the rocks to find cover. Seconds later, he vaulted over a waist high rock and skidded to a stop on the other side. He looked down into a small crater, and at the bottom sat a destroyed helicopter. He skidded down the shallow incline to the wreckage and began searching through storage containers looking for a weapon. Two .45 caliber pistols and 4 spare clips of ammunition. One grenade launcher attachment and a bandolier of grenades. "This should do nicely."

Talon sat in the cockpit of his jet and scanned the sensors. He got a hit on the motion radar and looked out to see his target strapping on a bandolier from a storage box in the downed chopper. "Hey, Vic, send our friend a welcome back present." Lifting his right cybernetic arm Vic launched a small rocket toward the helicopter wreckage. "It'll never hit him, but it might distract him a bit. Team, fan out and close in from all sides. Go in together and we can take him down quickly!"

Lex Luthor sat at his desk in a hidden underground base below the ruins of Lexcorp Tower. The loss of the tower at the hands of the Crime Syndicate during the battle for Metropolis had been a big loss. The tower itself though had only been a small part of the structure. The tower had housed missile defense systems for the city. It was also the seat of Lexcorp and the main offices for his company. However, the series of tunnels and bunkers built underground was the main reason for the towers existence. It was also now the base of operations for his new Society. His communicator beeped as Noah’s face appeared.
"Lex, I'm sending something over to your monitor. If we want to act on this, we’re going to need to move fast. I've got Jason standing by." As soon as Calculator signed off a video feed popped up on Lex's screen. A familiar figure in a tattered orange suit was digging through the storage hold of a downed Lexcorp chopper.
“Slade.”
It was probably a trap. Still, a little too obvious for Owlman and if it really was Wilson, then saving him would be well worth the risk. He couldn’t afford not to try. He grabbed his sidearm on the way out the door. His battle armor had been destroyed by Ultraman in their last confrontation, and he hadn't had enough time to build a replacement. Hopefully he wouldn't regret that lack in the coming hours.
____________________________________________
The man noticed a slight movement at the edge of his periphery, and he executed a diving roll straight ahead toward a small rock. Landing with his right foot perfectly secured on the rock he launched himself up into the air in a forward roll just as a rocket exploded into the ground behind him. He was launched forward by the explosion and was forced to catch himself with his hands. He pushed himself into another forward roll and came up running to find cover. As soon as he rolled behind a large rock he heard a jet set down and several feet hit the ground around him. This was the first time he could ever remember being in a battle, but it seemed as if he intimately knew what to do... but how?
No time to wonder. Only time to act.

The editor(s) almost always choose(s) map. I wouldn't have asked to take the villains if I didn't own this map... ;-) You have choice of side/starting area, sir...
Also wanted to point out that Jack had a misprint on my team list. Deathstroke has Armor Piercing, Red Hood doesn't have Swingline.

(Attack) In Contact with Calculator: Calculator can use Perplex. He can use it normally, or he can modify the same combat value (except damage) of all friendly characters 6 or fewer squares away by +1 or -1 until the beginning of your next turn.
(Damage) Obsessive: Calculator can use Outwit. When he does, roll 2d6 and subtract the greatest number of characters from the opposing force that share a common keyword; if the result is 4 or less, at the end of your turn deal Calculator 1 unavoidable damage.
(Special) Battlefield Promotion: Dark Phoenix: When Phantom hits one or more opposing characters, after actions resolve, place a Promotion Token on her character card. When Phantom is KO'd, you may then roll a d6 that can't be rerolled and add 1 for each Promotion Token on her character card; on a result of 8 or higher, you may replace this character with M10A #021 Dark Phoenix on its yellow starting line. On a result of 10 or higher, the replaced character begins on its blue starting line. If you rolled a 6 and the result is 12 or higher, the replaced character begins on its green starting line.

Story:
"Wilson! We're here, you're coming home!" Lex and Jason jumped out of the jet as it touched down and rushed over to their friend. "Wilson?" Wilson Slade made no reaction to the sound of his name, but kept his defensive position behind cover with guns raised. "Wilson, it's me, Lex. What are you doing? Put the guns down."
"I don't know you. I don't know who I am, where I am, or how I got here." Wilson looked around. There were two groups on the battlefield besides himself. The one coming in from the north had led with a rocket, and were obviously in no mood to talk. This one however had come forward with no regard for defensive posture, or even a drawn weapon. "What you say might be true.."
"Wilson, let me help you now and get you back to base. I can explain everything there."
"Fine, but if you double cross me I will kill you."
"Deal."

Talon smiled grimly. "I can't wait to take him down," he said with his right fist clenched in front of his chest. It would show Ultraman, Owlman, and the rest of that arrogant lot that Talon belonged in the big leagues. "I'll take point," he announced, eagerly advancing toward his opponents.
Recluse leapt ahead in a sort of flanking maneuver. He picked up a jagged chunk of the destroyed helicopter. 'This will serve nicely as a weapon,' he thought, admiring its razor-sharp and ragged metallic edges.
- Recluse/Spider-Man leaps to O12, grabbing the HO in P7 on the way.
- Talon/Robin moves to J10 (where he enjoys Stealth).
Recluse/Spider-Man copies the Batman Ally TA and enjoys Stealth, too.
