i dont remember which judge said he d let me know the ruling on the stealth backdoor ruling Chapeau had posted to me in a PM on the wizkids' site that i printed and copied to a certain thread i forget and i m wondering what the ruling that came down from the new RA was(dr gandalf)? i d appreciate a straight out answer...
it regarded objects on roof edges and being able to target stealthed characters in those objects due to a "loophole" of ground to roofedge combat.
thanks!!!!!!!!!!

here you go manchine, this was the time chapeau was the RA, as seen in my subject line to him lol
"Re: was told yeh da man
Sorry, Beaver, but you are wrong. What you're talking about is Stealth's back door. Because of the wording, any LOF drawn to a stealthed character that goes through hindering terrain treats the hindering terrain as blocking. From grounded to elevated, the attacker ignores any blocking terrain in the targets square. Unfortunately, since when drawing the LOF, that hindering is blocking, it gets ignored. Its only when you're on the edge, though.

To ask for specific rulings. I will understand if you decide not to or do not have the time to.
A judge at my local venue keeps overruling me, even threads from the Wizkids and HCRealm sites proving him otherwise, so I decided I'd get a Chapeauism on this so the integrity of the Stealth/Batman Ally team ability isnt ruined:
it regards hindering terrain on edges of roofs. now, suppose there is a light/heavy/3D object on a roofs edge and someone with Stealth/Batman Aly team ability was "hiding" in it, is the figure targetable by anybody WITHOUT the Superman Ally team ability?
S is Experienced Steel (JLA, not Superman Ally)
R is Robin (on Roof's Edge hiding in a light object, television)
. is the ground elevation
x is the roof elevation

It appears to be cleared and will be cleared up in the next Faq update.
The wording in the rulebook does not stop Stealth from working. If a Stealthy figure is in Hindering Terrain at the edge of a roof, grounded figures still cannot see them, per the normal rules for targeting a stealthy individual. The line in the rulebook that states:
A grounded character can make a ranged combat attack against an elevated figure if the only blocking terrain the line of fire crosses is in the square the target occupies.
Quote
This was meant to refer to the (blocking) edge of the elevated terrain, not be transposed onto the effects of a Stealthy figure in hindering terrain. Remember, the PAC has the ability to override the rulebook, and in this case, Stealth allows the figure to hide from having LOF drawn to them. (Let me see about getting that line in the rulebook possibly cleaned up.)
This sounds pretty cheesy.... it's like a rule this idiot told me:
Batman wants to shoot Joker.
Joker is on a roof, Batman is grounded 5 squares away. Harley Quinn is grounded right below Joker, a square in front at the base of the building between Batman and Joker.
However, Batman cannot shoot Joker because Harley is BLOCKING HIS SIGHT??? How is this? Because
2) No BLOCKING terrain can be between the two since Batman has the disadvantage of being grounded.
3) According to the rules, characters are treated as blocking terrain when drawing LOF in combat.
Now, this guy brought together these two separate rules into a retarded third rule that had Harley jumping 30 ft. in the air, blocking Batman's shot.
As for the stealth 'back door' it sounds just as stupid. How about not putting objects on the edges of roofs? People are constantly wracking their brains in an attempt to disable powers through outlandinsh situations. This is why there's such an outcry for Spirit's new rule set. (Which has already caused it's own set of debates)
Play the game people... just play the game...

yes please clear it up in the next FAQ so i can just print it out and OVERRIDE my venue's judge...it isnt in the latest DC/Marvel FAQs so being a judge yerself, be sure you lobby for it to be in the SOONEST and NEXTEST FAQ lol...
now what of this...i just checked FAQ but i wanna see what you think...
my pal's Destiny-R last night wasnt exactly diagonal to my character (who i forget, not impt) but by measuring with a string, we agreed that his destiny had some sort of clear LOF to my character THROUGH TWO OTHER FIGS but by not being EXACTLY diagonal, he couldnt shoot between 2 characters, was i correct?

actually CactuarSensei that is a rule. That one is not going to change.

Can Shoot Destiny. This last one is A Math problem. As long as the line is drown through teh exacter corners of C you can hit destiny. It gets complicated here.
im sorry but your diagrams arent that clear to me, but in general, you have to hit the exact corner of two squares, like the string lying right across the median of those 2 squares, it s legal, is that the gist? i do remember that someone told me you had to be on the exactly diagonal, like this...
x x
x x
x x
x x
D
not at any other diagonal, but if you say just as long as it LIES ON THE EXACT CORNER OF TWO SQUARES, i'll take it

sorry my diagram didnt go as i thought it would, it just srunched themselves up oh well...i ll just set up my board with your examples and look at them...well what of my "proposition" and "DREAM" of becoming a judge? winks

Machine, which were you referring to? The scenario I mentioned had a roof involved but your diagrams didn't. Batman and Harley share the same elevation but Joker is raised. Now, if she were right in front of him it would make some sense, but she is 4-5 squares in the distance.
If you still say this is a rule I think it's just way too literal.
hey, cactuar, i think manchine made a little error on that...there is NO WAY harley could ve BLOCKed the LOF from bats to joker, ONLY if the quinn was YOURS and batman was YOURS and stood in front of quinn, he couldnt target joker, but your diagram, he had CLEAR lof!
