SMOKE CLOUD
Give this character a power action; place up to 6 hindering terrain markers in distinct, adjacent squares that are all within this character’s range (minimum range value 4). At least one of the terrain markers must be within line of fire when it is placed . The
terrain markers remain until the beginning of your next turn. Characters that occupy these terrain markers modify their attack value by -1 unless they can use Smoke Cloud or ignore hindering terrain for line of fire purposes.
Just looking for a quick clarification on Smoke Cloud. If I have two different characters performing Smoke Cloud, can I place one character's Smoke Cloud marker in the other's? And if so, does the -1 to AV stack because of it?
Thank you.
Boy, I sure have pissed off a lot of people lately on the interwebs. Sorry to all.
What about calling them "Papillomas?"
Nothing in the power states that you cannot place smoke cloud markers on top of each other.
I would say that the check for smoke cloud is just once. Are you occupying Hindering Terrain Markers from Smoke Cloud? Yes, -1 to AV. I can see it going the other way, but the way its worded "Terrain Markers" plural, I dont see it stacking effects.

Totally agree.
There are a few other powers that indicate the square must be clear terrain for tokens of various types, but Smoke Cloud has no such restrictions.
What if you have regular Smoke Cloud on some squares, and then another character with a special power smoke cloud (that deals damage say) puts smoke cloud on the same squares? I'm assuming the second smoke cloud would be the one that counts, correct?
Gulyadkin Victims List: Spider-Man (ASM 001b), Green Goblin (M10A 004).
Black Panther R (IC) Mjolnir Attempts: 2 for 2! HE IS WORTHY!

If a smoke cloud has its own special effects, they will still work regardless of how many othe smoke cloud markers are in the same square.

I would say that the wording "these terrain markers" refers to the terrain markers placed by that use of the power. So if two characters use Smoke Cloud on the same square, there are two sets of "these terrain markers" placed and both would give the -1 to the occupying characters attack value.

I see what you're doing.

I see your point. The question is does "these terrain markers" refer to markers placed by that specific use of Smoke Cloud, or markers placed by any use of Smoke Cloud. It's a little ambiguous, in my opinion. I wonder what the intent was?
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

Lets look at it this way: if Smoke Cloud conveys a -1 penalty, and invented SP "Stealthy Mist of the Shroud" conveys a -2, I'd say they WOULD stack. There is nothing in the rules prohibiting them "stacking" in the same space (as far as we know) and they are NOT the same effect.
Bumping this in hopes that an RD might see this and weigh in. It seems like it could go either way but it might have a big effect when I play multiple Code Blue Officers.
