100 pts, wanting to make an X-Men themed team. I'm not looking to win events with this, just want to have some fun. I have a few ideas already, but wanted to get some input from players here.
So what X-Men give me the most for the 100 pts?
Parameters to keep in mind:
I'd like to have at least 1 flyer. 2 is difficult to do with only 100 pts.
Obviously I plan to keep the unit adjacent most of the time, to make use of the team ability.
Does any other X-Man other than Professor X have leadership?

Thats a good point, I'd forgotten about her having it at the Experienced level. Unfortunatly I only have the Rookie and Veteran, so I'll have to trade for one.
I've played with a E Shadow Cat and E Prof X
Thats around 98-99 points from memory.
You have to be careful with the way you move around, but Shadowcat Taxis the prof around, he MCs opponents into each other, pushing where nessisary and using kitty to soak up the damage X-men style. If you keep near the back you won't get hit much, meaning once things get down to 1-1 you can slowly trade kitty back her clix and then go with her.
its a team that takes a LOT of getting used to, and very chess like in its play methods, but I've found it to be very effective.
Two fliers, ranged combat, energy shield and barrier, with a little incapacitae thrown in. If your opponent has alot of shield agents/con artists you could throw in a E Boom Boom (19pts) with energy explosion. And if you are lucky enough to have him, the U Cycolps is badass at 39 pts
Chuck Norris is the only person who can simultaneously hold and fire FIVE Uzis: One in each hand, one in each foot, and the 5th one he roundhouse-kicks into the air, so that it sprays bullets.

E Storm can't fly, so she is not a good taxi, in that she is not a taxi at all . V Storm doesn't have Leadership, but you might want to try V Storm and V Psylocke. That's 97 points, and for that you get a flyer with 10 Range, EE, RCE, and ES/D and a Stealth B/C/F-er for close combat and a 8 range to compliment Storm plus she has Enhancement to pump Storm's EE to 2 damage.
Your options for Leadership are very slim. You have:
Professor X R/E/V/U
Magneto E
White Queen V
Storm E
None of these are flying figures, so no Leadership/Taxi. Plus four out of the seven cost more than 80 points. So Prof X V and U, Magneto , and White Queen are all pretty much out.
You are also going to be hard pressed to get more than two members on your team. Getting Wolverine could help a lot, as he has Toughness to stick around longer, B/C/F for the high damage potential and Regeneration for the last minute comeback. E Wolverine is 61 points, so you could pair him with R Storm, R Iceman, or R/E/U Shadowcat. With Storm you'd get ranged combat options, with 8 range, RCE on one click and EE. Iceman would get you less ranged options with a 6 range and RCE for 2 damage total but gains Barrier. U Shadowcat is probably the most survivable, with 2 natural damage, EE at 4 range, Phasing and Super Senses.
I'd go with E Wolverine and U Shadowcat. You have one Stealth close combat monster and a Phasing taxi who s hard to hurt and can mix it up in close combat to some degree. Plus you have the Kitty/Wolverine pairing from the limited series (although you are adding Lockheed).
But I'm leaning toward the Professor/Shadowcat combo. Only having 1 action per turn is going to get me killed by Avenger or Brotherhood teams, so Professor's leadership is invaluable.
But if anyone knows of something better, I'm open to suggestions.
Well, remember that a figure who uses a free move cannot attack at all. Granted, E Wasp was practically made for this setup.
My only worry with the Prof X/Kitty team is your lack of real close combat offense. If your opponent uses Stealth then you have to base figures with X to try to MC them. If the figure is pushed or Battle Fury you have nothing you can really do. Granted, as long as Kitty has Phasing you can run away, but that would make a big cat-and-mouse game.
With a Mind Control team you might have problems if you play against a 100 point Sentinel or a team whose big brawler has Battle Fury. If you use Wolverine and keep him in hindering terrain you don't have to worry about your opponent using ranged attacks. All you have to worry about is figures with charge or flyers with a free move.
I gotta agree that Mind Control being your primary source of attack is not really great. Playing against the Brotherhood means you might run into a Sabretooth who has battle fury into his dial, and then you won't be able to do much of anything to him with that E Professor X / E Shadowcat team while he just B/C/F's you over and over. Shadowcat can hit him and maybe do 2 damage which would then get soaked into 1 point with toughness. Professor X is USELESS without being able to Mind Control since he does 0 damage, so his 67 points are wasted at that point. It's worse if you go up against a sentinel team as professor X will be useless the whole time.
V Psylocke with V Storm gives you range and close combat. Psylocke has a 10 attack with B/C/F plus enhancement to help Storm's ranged attacks. Just keep them in the bushes and Storm has an 18 against ranged attacks and Psylocke is hidden with stealth. If someone comes close, hit them with Psylocke's blades, and then retreat to new bushes with Storm's 10 movement.
Psylocke is lacking the regeneration and toughness of Wolverine, but she adds enhancement to Storm's EE which can be deadly if your opponent clusters. Doing 2 damage via EE to everyone on their team should hurt them alot, and with Storm's 10 attack, you can hit a 17 defense slightly better then 50% of the time. Plus Psylocke's 8 range and 2 natural damage give you the ability to have a stealth turret system and just hide Storm behind Psylocke. With Storm and Psylocke hitting pretty hard (for a 100 point game that is) from range I think that should be a pretty decent combination. It would probably get beat by the professor X team (if they get leadership) since the prof should get off the first attack with Kitty as taxi and professor taking over storm to whack Psylocke, BUT it will stand up a lot better to teams that aren't susceptible to mind control.
