Mastermind can only be used when the Masterminding figure is the target of an attack. This means that it cannot work with push damage, with multi-target Pulse Wave, nor with Poison; Pulse Wave does not target when used against multiple figures, and the other two are not attacks.
According to the new FAQ this is no longer true. Mastermind can transfer any damage dealt, including that done by Mystics/Arachnos ability, even though it doesn't need a target.
However, the new FAQ still doesn't address the pushing question. Can someone direct me to a better answer?

Pushing damage is damage that is not dealt, but rather taken. Because Mastermind can only deal with damage that is dealt, Pushing damage is an illegal target for Mastermind.

Here's a quote from page 4 of the Icons rule book:
"Pushing a figure deals 1 damage to them." - Icons, pg4, 2 paragraphs before the Ranged Attacks title.
And from the new PAC:
Mastermind: "Each time this character would be dealt damage..."
Don't mean to be too much of a rule lawyer, but should we expect an official ruling on this?

However, Mastermind can now transfer EE and Mystics damage, and Icons says that pushing 'deals' damage, so the original question stands... Can you mastermind damage dealt by pushing?
Also, can you mastermind damage transfered by mastermind? Or is that considered 'transfered' rather than dealt?

You are reffering to the quick start rules. If you read through that, you'll find many odd things that don't synch up with the complete rules. This is because they are trying to keep things relatively simple in the quick start rules to help new people grasp the basics. Rather than confuse new players with different types of damage, they call *everythin* damage dealt in the quick start rules.
However, when you look at the definition at the back of Icons rule book:
pushing damage: A clockwise click taken by a pushed character.
Pushing damage is *not* damage dealt. It is an automatic click of the dial. The only way to avoid pushing damage is with Willpower (or Power Cosmic TA).
Still seems rather nebulous to me.... the back of the rule book is more important than the contents?
What it comes down to (in my mind) is that there are two statements in possible opposition in the rulebook. Since no one in this discussion is a judge, I kind of have to leave it there until someone says something in some kind of official capacity (or directs me to a post that satisfies that).

Umm... if it matters, I *am* a judge. Go look for me on the WK boards if you like. Same user name.
Location in book does matter. As I said, there are a lot of differences between the quick start rules and the regular rules, pushing damage being just one of them. For example, in the section on ranged attacks in the quick start rules, they never say *anything* about not being able to make ranged attacks if you are based by an opponent, or that fliers may make ranged attacks when they are based.
The quick start rules are just that: quick. They pare it down, make it very simple, and in that simplicity a lot of details are lost.
