I searched the forums and didn't see this brought up, so wanted to ask this question out there and get everyone's opinion.
Let's say I'm playing Slattern from the Pacific Rim set on his 600 point dial vs. a team that includes SR Thanos from Galactic Guardians. Slattern gets knocked to his first KO click, which triggers this power:
Quote
BIGGEST, BADDEST MONSTER TO EVER WALK THE EARTH: Once per game, when Slattern would be KO'd, instead, heal it to its starting line, roll a d6 that can't be rerolled, and subtract 1. Deal it the result as unavoidable damage. For the rest of the game, modify Slattern's attack and damage values by +1. This power can't be ignored.
Bolding was from me. However, before that can happen, Thanos's trait comes into play, which is the following:
Quote
AVATAR OF DEATH: Other characters can't be healed.
Because of the wording of Slattern's trait and Thanos's trait, would Slattern get to come back around to the (potential) beginning of his dial? I would say no because of the wording, and because his power isn't getting ignored, it's just saying that no characters can be healed. I just wanted to see what everyone else thought.
There has been a lot of discussion with Slattern just wrecking house on figs, but it looks like with Thanos, you have a better shot of taking him down if my thought process is correct. Thanks everyone!
id say no. the if the word heal is involved thanos would prevent it.

Another notch for Big T. And in a 600pt game, I see him putting it in the bag quick with 300pts to work with in support pieces. Because, basically, that Slattern becomes a 350-400pt piece without that Trait.

Or he KOs Thanos before worrying about the rest of the team. Depends on what the rest of the team is, though.
I know that anytime I'm playing Dracula, Slattern, or anything else that relies on healing, if I see that Thanos, I point at it at the beginning of the game and say, "you die first."

No, not everyone. Just the ones who have it worded as "heal"-ing, rather than "turning the dial to click N" (but yes, that does include all the ones you named.)
Exactly. 300pts is alot to work with. I could throw in Big G, perhaps. But id most likely use alot of small-time perplex, prob, and outwit. Maybe Mr. F for some +2. I could see Thanos laying it down more times than not.
But in a 600+ point game, with enough support for Slattern..I could see the tables turning.
This healing of OTHER CHARACTERS would effect friendly as well as opposing. Correct?
I don't find any errata to further qualify "other characters" so I'd say correct.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.
“No matter how subtle the wizard, a knife between the shoulder blades will seriously cramp his style.”

Correct.
The only character which can be healed is Thanos himself, and specifically that Thanos. If two were on the board then they would cancel each other out.
