I saw someone stating that they disliked the path that Marvel was taking Wolverine currently. They posted a comic showing Wolverine kissing Jean/Phoenix from the Marvel NOW! Run. I was curious if anyone knew what issue/storyline this is in and if you have said image?

Jean Grey's taste in men sure has deteriorated.

Logan: "The Phoenix?"

And then she kisses him.

It's amazing that people get paid for such bad writing.

As opposed to Cyclops, a guy who's abandoned every woman he's ever been with? I mean, at least when Wolverine takes off, it's because he's a near-immortal amnesiac who's trying to recover shreds of his past. Scott's reaction to adversity of any kind is to just find a new warm body to shack up with.

I still say Hawkeye's got him beat when it comes to jerk moves to pull on women, even if it really only was *one* woman in his case. The whole mess with Mockingbird and Phantom Rider really did take the prize!

Cyclops shouldn't be held accountable for the horrible directions Claremont and the other Marvel hacks have taken him since the 80s. Stan Lee and Roy Thomas never wrote him to be a turd. Wolverine's been a turd almost from the beginning. Bullying his teammates, using his claws as a crutch. Cold blooded murderer not to mention the incongruity of being an uncontrollable maniac and a highly disciplined shogun/ninja all at the same time.

Sure it wasn't something from X-Men Forever (Chris Claremont's self-fanfic)? I believe Jean and Logan actually became an item there.

I'm just hoping it wasn't the 15-year old timejumped Jean that Logan was smooching, because that would be creepy as hell.

If you're talking about the comic I think you're talking about, the image you're talking about came from the final issue from the absolutely terrible and 3-issues longer than it needed to be "What If...? AvX".

Wolverine is actually dead for almost the entire series, but there was an annual that had him and Jean having a romantic time at Club Med.

I am ashamed to admit that I read all of X-men Forever... and even X-men Forever 2...

Claremont used to be a good writer. He really did.

And then... um, yeah. Maybe Bendis clubbed him on the head repeatedly or something. I don't know.

Oy. See, What If Civil War? was freaking awesome. But that was an exception and not the rule judging by the latest batches.

If anything he's like Bizarro-Bendis.

Bendis has good ideas, but has his characters sit around talking so long that nothing ends up happening.

Claremont has terrible ideas and then goes forward with them like a bullet train and hopes for the best.


And yeah. I know he's not all bad. Don't worry. Can't talk about X-men without at least giving him a nod.
