I searched (but not in great depth, I admit) but didn't seem to find this question and I need a clarification.
I have a Vetran Huntress that has an 8 range, 2 bolts and ranged combat expert. I have 2 opposing figs in my range and roll and hit both. Since I am targeting multiple enemies I reduce the damage to 1 and then apply her ranged combat expert power to give each fig a total of 3 clicks. Is this correct?
Also, I got in a HUGE arguement with a buddy of mine over energy explosion and need to know if this is correct. Here was the circumstance:
I had 2 of my figs adjacent to 2 opposing figs and targeted one with an energry explosion. I rolled to hit and scored a hit. My fig with EE was adjacent to a shield agent so I hit for 2 damage to the main fig and 2 to the other opposing fig that is adjacent. My buddy says that MY figs have to also take the damage as well and I told him that is incorrect. Friendly units do not suffer splash damage from friendly fire. No attacks can damage friendly units. He sited the PAC saying "all adjacent figs". I sited the rules out of the rule book that says you may not target or damage a friendly unit with any attack. (with the exception of pulse wave right?)
Who is correct? I believe I am correct. Please help me out you veteran players.
I have been playing Mage Knight for years but only recently started playing HC and there are MANY differenece between the two.
I'm not sure about the energy explosion question, but you may only target 1 piece with RCE. By targetting 2 pieces, your damage drops to 1 on each, with no RCE. Hope that helps!
Intresting question about RCE...I never thought of that, and have no clue. I'm assuming that you still do 1 damage, but...With the wording in the FAQ that RCE adds 2 damage...hrm...
First off, you have to use a action to get the damage boost from SHIELD. Secondly, you can't target your own figures with an attack, but they certainly can take damage from them. The only thing to note is the figure doing the EE can't be knocked back - updated in the new FAQ.
Everyone takes the damage from the EE. And everybody takes the extra click from shield. The exception is an Enhanced EE. Enhancement only hurts enemies. So if your EE had been enhanced instead of Shield, then his guys would take two and your guys just one.
you get only one attack with rce. damage drops to 1 on multilpe attacks....whuch can be enhanced by shield and/or enhancement.
with ee "all" adjacent figures take splash damage. including your own. bummer i know. the target item is the issue. both splash damage and pulse wave are "area" effect; so friendlies are fair game.

Ok, I'm with everyone on the RCE thing...but where can you find it in text? I searched the rulebook and FAQ and did not see the 1 shot restriction on RCE...of course I'm on medication...
Like I said, I'm sure you can't; but I like to have proof available for some wacko at the next tournament.

Straight from the PAC which you can download from Wizkids site....
"RANGED COMBAT EXPERT. This character adds 2 to their damage for successful single-target ranged combat attacks. (Optional) This power does not work with other super powers (such as Super Strength or Enhancement)."
Note the "... for successful single-target..." part.

HOWEVER.....NOWHERE can I find it in print that EE affects friendly figs. I have read through both DC and Marvel rulebooks and both the latest FAQS. The only attack that specifically states Friendly and oppsoing figs is pulsewave.
Can anyone tell me where it is in print that it effects friendly figs? This is a big issue with the group I play with. Any help would be appreciated...
look no further than his quote of the faq..."all adjacent figs"
the quote you mention in the rulebook is referring targetting a friendly figure directly. otherwise pulsewave wouldnt work either.

From the latest FAQ ('cause I just happen to be looking at it... not that this part is new or anything).... page 2... bottom of page... Energy Explosion section.....
"This cahracter's ranged combat attack can affect all characters in base contact with the target. (Optional) Give this character a ranged combat action and reduce its damage to 1. Make only one attack dice roll. Compare that result to the defense value of the target character and every character in base contact with the target character. A successful ranged combat attack inflicts 1 click of damage on each character hit."
Nowhere does it say anything about friendly figs.

Can't target a friendly. In most cases, with most powers, you therefore can't damage a friendly fig. Not the case with PW & EE. TK falls a bit outside this because it says that when you target a friendly fig, you don't make an attack roll (not an attack).
